did u apply ED? that would help a lot… although I’m still counting that I’m gonna get lsped… nervous as hell this week

Your SAT adds up to an 1870, not 1970. You have good EC’s, but your test scores and GPA are on the low side. Any SAT II’s and/or AP grades?

which school are u applying to? CAS?

Wow got my own SAT score wrong…I know it’s an 1870 I just couldn’t type
I applied to CAS yep.
640 and a 580 on Subject Tests, pretty bad, I know.
Since I’m not a Science or Math person, the only other option was English Lit or Spanish.

Yep, I applied ED. I’m praying for an LSP, but it’s really so hard to tell.
I’ve dreamt of going there for so long… I’ll be crushed if I don’t get in, but I know I’ll eventually get over it.

Someone on here said they received a letter today but it was addressed 12/9 so we may find out tomorrow!
Colij, your SAT scores are a little high for LSP I think. Generally (but not all the time!) I thought it was for applicants lower SAT and GPA. Again, not always like that though
Thanks!

Can you chance me?

@hellothere:

Your GPA and EC’s are obviously great, but I just think your standardized test scores will kill you. I think LSP is your best bet.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I am not so good as standardize tests.

Thank you.

I agree.
I think you’re a great LSP candidate, and definitely have a shot at full on Acceptance.
NYU makes it very clear it isn’t all about tests.

I am hoping for that. I guess we’ll see on December 15.

Thanks for chancing me and I wish you lots of luck!

im saying 50 50 chance you get LSP’d

but now, check it and provide some respect

chance the **** out of me

Your GPA seems a tad bit low for full on admission…but everything else points to that!

I agree. Everything looks good arsenalrc15 besides your unweighted GPA.

Did you apply ED?

yea i did ED, i saw your stats and id be happy to chance you for Fordham

your GPA is very impressive, but it is offset by your test scores.
however, its good to see you had great essays and rec’s.

Fordham looks like a slight reach/almost a match for you. its impossible for me to give you a final decision though.

oh and for NYU, you may end up LSP’d.
again, i have no real idea because with stats like yours, it comes down to the adcom’s preferences

I don’t love your chances, but I think if you presented the extra stuff in your app like EC’s and honors in a way that doesn’t give the admissions rep that sense of “this is a bunch of bullshiit” then I think you have a shot. We have the same GPA but NYU knows my school better than any other high school in the world and understand the difficulty, I hope for your sake that your school is difficult.

^^ for the original poster

Well as much as i don’t want to get rejected, I know that with scores like that it is quite possible it will happen. I actually took the SAT’s over agian and did worse. Thanks for all the feedback, I feel like I have a chance even if it is a rough one.

I am actually really glad I found Fordham because they accept lower SAT scores which would be pretty great, and they are still in the city.

Thanks Woosah.
Yeah the Valedictorian in my class has a 5.1 GPA so I’d say it’s pretty difficult.
We have the highest number of people in NHS in years.
Presenting my ECs in a good light was tough. I’ve worked so hard for the positions I hold, whereas others simply join any and everything for admission purposes. I didn’t know how to show how much I cared without seeming like one of those yuppies.
