are you from one of those weird freak magnet schools? I heard that Princeton hates those. too bad.

No. So I guess it's not too bad.

What do you want to major in?

If his senior class has 520 kids and his school has 2500, I'm pretty sure Princeton would love his school. You have some pretty good chances.

ur not a loser

thanks for the help. I'm majoring in math.

I put the title to attract attention but right after I posted it I realized it probably looked too emo. Apparently you can't change the title, though.

My school has had 2 people accepted to Princeton in the past 3 years. Does this make any difference?

that could be a good or a bad thing. If your the top candidate applying from your school to p-ton, it won't matter.. although they won't admit it.. they do partially evaluate on a school by school basis and only take the top two or three candidates at a public school. Two kids got in last year at my school, the top two students applying this year will probably get in... everyone else will be rejected, as usual.

i dont think that princeton hates magnet schools. im from a magnet school and 11 people made it from my school last year.

i would say that u might have a shot. I wouldn't say it's a definite though.

Hello,

I would suggest that you emphasize the positive. You should select an essay topic that will do that. I remember that the Common Application has the category OTHER. You can then write about a positive aspect of your experiences and show how you are enthusiastic. Good Luck

thanks again for the response

hmmm,,,,I dont know cant say

In my opinion, Princeton's math courses(eg the analysis sequence) seem to be a little better organized than Harvard's(eg Math 55). Good luck!

If I were you, I would definitely apply. You have a good shot at it.

My first impression of you upon clicking on the thread title was confirmed...you really are a loser. Haha...jk!

I think you sorely lack ECs, although you have shown good leadership in a large school. A big plus for Princeton is your 800 CR score. They really love that.

i would say you would be wait-listed in my opinion

Thanks for the tips

I just realized that I made the same mistake I almost made on my app. I forgot to mention that I'm the President of the Chess Club. Perhaps that would add to my ECs, though to be honest it's a very small club.

Chess Club is so nerdy. Don't put that down.

put it down. be yourself. it will not hurt you, even if it helps only very little. it might be a small club, but you would seem to have at least devoted substantial effort to be chosen as president of it. also, you already appear nerdy as hell, with your magnet school and excellent scores and jazz band and academic decathlon etc etc etc. might as well be better at it.

hieronymus: how do you know they love 800 CRs?

A Princeton insider once said that the university looks to admit people who are strong in the English field. And if you look at the statistics you will notice that there are a lot of 800 CR admits.
