Going to apply EA to Harvard. Any chance?

Ofcourse you have a chance at Harvard it’s just low because everyone who applies has those same grades.

bumppity…

Ivies = lottery

The cliche is that everyone is a reach, but with the perfect ACT, great EC’s, et cetera, your brother’s chances will be much better than the average applicant’s. The consistency and dedication to things like science and music are exactly what admissions people want to see, and with good essays, you have a great shot. BTW, it might be advisable to play up the European last name…quite frankly Asians with perfect scores sometimes face an unfortunate stigma.

P.S. going from National Merit Semifinalist to Finalist is pretty much just a technicality. He should get finalist recognition.

bummpity …

You (or your brother) have a really good shot. Perfect objective stats + great EC’s (USAChO in particular) make you an exceptional applicant. Write great essays, and you should be fine.

Good shot. However, once again, the fact that admission is a lottery is very true. I had a very similar application (perfect stats, same amount of 5s, USACHO, USAPHO, etc) and was rejected. Make sure your brother has his safety schools and apply wide.

I’m in the same income, racial, and surname situation as you are. I also have a brother.

Nice job on the USChO

Lol. He only made camp.

^Muta- I’m one of 3 boys in my family. 5 children. Oldest one goes to Cambridge.
