I am in-state and am applying to NCSU in the regular decision pool. Do I have a chance of acceptance and a possibility to gain admission into the University Scholars program? Also, does anybody have personal experience with the program or know any specific details about it?

Your stats are good but from my understanding it is usually given to those who are accepted in the early action phase of the application. All of my friends who got into the scholars program applied early. They only accept about 500 incoming freshman out of about 4000 so once they reach that limit they are done. I encourage you to still apply but if you don't you can try after you first fall semester at state. If you have a 3.5 gpa or 3.75 for (Engineering and science majors) you will be automatically accepted and start the program the following spring semester. They will send you an email saying that you have been invited to join the US program. Me and roommate are currently in the program. To stay in the program you have to maintain a 3.25 or above and attend some programs. But overall, it is really a good program and a lot easier and less demanding than the honors program. my suit mate who's in the program got to go to NY for her fall break. You also get to register for classes earlier than everyone else which is good because you get the classes that you want and the time! and you can take honors classes. If you applied early, you would have been in for sure. Hope this helps! if you have anymore question, feel free to ask.

Yes, to be considered for NCSU general merit scholarships you needed to get your application in by the first deadline in the fall. It is possible that you major dept. might have some scholarships that it's not too late to apply for. Check your major's dept. page on the NCSU website.

You will definitely get into the school. As for the Scholars Program, I talked to one of the coordinators of the program last Saturday (Engineering Open House-I have been accepted!). He said that you need 2 out of 3 things:
1. 1350+ on the Math and Crit Reading of SAT (I don't know the equivalent ACT score, as the majority of NC students take the SAT)
2. Top 5% of class
3. At least 4.5 weighted GPA (also can be 3.75 unweighted GPA - I am also not sure about this, but it doesnt matter because 3.96 is more than any realistic requirement anyways)
If you arent invited automatically, or if your GPA/test scores changed recently and now you are eligible (my situation), you should resend your transcript and email the Scholars Program asking them for an invitation in light of your latest transcript.

I don't know anything about the program that you could'nt find out from the website, other than the Scholars get to live in one of the best dorm buildings on campus!
