Reasonable. His SAT is a bit low, good call on retaking it (aim for a 1400+). Georgetown has become increasingly more competitive in the past three years (the class of 2010 was the most competitive year.. and the pattern continues) Will he be applying for the college, business school, nursing school, or foreign service school? Each school has different acceptance rates with the nursing school having the highest acceptance rate, then the business school/college, then the school of foreign service (ranked 4th in the nation). I was the head of the admissions committee two years ago at Georgetown when I was class President, and while he has good leadership positions and sports, most Georgetown students do.

Early Decision is good, shows that he is dedicated. Let his enthusiasm show during the interview. Georgetown loves passionate students. More than being globally aware of issues around the world, Georgetown likes to see dedication. It could be to pottery or solving global warming- the overall intent is the same. Be sure to highlight unique attributes on his application. Things that would make him who he is, something that separates him from the Joe or Jane application before and after his (I'm not talking about colored-paper applications or stickers and scented applications... yes we receive those). Keep his spirits high, keep pushing, it's going to be a 50/50 at this point. Remember, while ED shows dedication, there is also a large pool of students who have the same aspirations. Make sure he is certain about GTown before doing ED. I know GTown does EA, maybe that would be a better option. Hope this helps
