Should have a solid essay

Planning to Apply: Vanderbilt, Emory, Wake Forest, WashU, Duke
Are these reasonable, too high, too low? Do I have a chance of getting any merit scholarship offers at any of the schools above? Please list other schools that I may fit into. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

holy shizah. i would think so, but who am i? ahha. you never know. no one can *really * tell you. it all depends on what admissions thinks. be very personable in your essay also. but, you look great on paper =)

I think your ACT could be better. A 29 isn't bad but it's not a great score either. Improve your test scores :) Everything look good though.

I appreciate both of your replies! I agree with wen123 w/ act scores. im definately going to need to improve those scores!
Thank you so much for all your help!
Any others? bump

what about scholarships? ive only seen one minority scholarship that vandy offers (you must be a journalism major); are there any others?

Merit Scholarship Programs

" Chancellor’s Scholars have worked to build strong high school communities by bridging gaps among economically, socially, and racially diverse groups and have demonstrated significant interest in issues of diversity education, tolerance, and social justice."

without affirmative action I think it would be close, around 50/50 shot, with affirmative action I think its more like 70/30, ur prolly going to get in, also it matter if you go with ed II or not, and I would like to see a 1400/1600 or better SAT score, and a 30+ ACT score to really give you a great shot at all your schools. Your courseload also is rigorous but its not that bad, I took 10 or 11 AP classes and a college course, and I am not the most rigourous at my school, but I would say 6 is prolly about average for Vandy, so good luck, I think you have a very decent fighting chance at every school you mentioned.
