I'm still a junior, but I fell in love with American University a few weeks ago when I visited. I want to major in International Relations so Washington, DC would be the perfect place for me to go to to college.

Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who replies to this!

Id say you’re a match. Your SAT could be a little better (aim for 2000), but your GPA is good. Also try to go for some more ECs and a leadership position or two.

Thank you so much! So a 3.8 gpa is not that bad? Sorry, I’m a little OCD with my grades haha. I never think that I do well enough. I think the highest someone in my school an get is a 4.4? something like that.

I plan on running for vice president of my business club senior year.
Also, I received a packet for the NSLC Intelligence and International Security at American University. Do you think if I attended that program it would incase my chances of getting in?

Thank you so much!!! You guys are making me less nervous about college applications haha.
Im actually not sure what my weighted GPA is out of… An A in an AP course is equivalent to a 4.6. But in my school we can take a max of 2 AP classes junior year… and 3 senior year. So it would be impossible to get above like a 4.4.

I would say high match: a little chance for wait list, but you’re pretty close. You need to improve the SAT score to make it a better match. My suggestion is in a fact to offset of our GPA. If that is your weighted GPA, you may need that extra push. You are, however, the average American University admitted student, so you are fine where you are. It would help to improve. Also, I would suggest writing an essay about your balancing a job and school work.

You asked me to include info for ED. Since American University is your first choice college, definitely go for ED. However, if you have a higher tiered college you like, definitely go ED for the other one. Americans should accept you anyway. Good luck!

I would say you’re a match. Your SAT and grades are pretty average for the school but you can improve a little. I do think you need a little more EC’s! God luck :)

You will be fine just keep up the grades. I literally just got accepted today and i had a 3.2 weighted 550 on math sat 540 on reading 470 on writing. I had a bad start in high school i think what got me in was as the years went on i took harder classes and got better grades. I played two varsity sports and had two community service things done. I took AP gov and AP lit my senior year so as a junior you are doing better then me. You will be fine good luck!
