sorry if I confused anyone...

since i am not getting replies, guess my post seems boring to you all...
its ok though.

I don't know much about this stuff, but your stats look pretty good, I think you'd be competitive at most colleges.

thanks...any other suggestions???

and could you maybe estimate my chances at some of those hard schools???

"I think you'd be competitive at most colleges."

thanks cake, I really hope that's true. Since I am not a typical, extremely smart Asian, I am trying hard to find what makes me diverse and apart from other usual Asian applicants...

wow u and i are so much alike...... korean-born.... all hard classes, 1st chair trumpet?? that's so weird..... sorry lol kinda random

I am exactly like you. Check out my stats post http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=66872

Upenn and Brown will be hard to get into. Even for someone with high stats. Ivy League schools are just like that.

Northwestern seems like a slight reach.
same with NYU

all the other ones you listed, I don't know enough about to say.

but if you're really looking into going to Ivy League, you should apply ED.

yea most of the schools listed are reaches, as I am fully aware...

I'm not sure if NYU is a reach though Magic...I know a guy who got in there with lower stats...
580 V / 750 M SAT and under top 10% rank wit a few ok ECs...

I think I'll probably have better chances if I raise my verbal to near 700s...if it's at all possible.

and forgive me for saying this, but teachers seem to know me pretty well considering that there is only 2% Asian population at my school, and only a few of them tend to be hard-working students...

Your chance are pretty good, I am a SCA crew ALum too and PLEASE emphasize that in your application (like enviormental stuff) cuase most asians are not that informed about the enviorment and stuff (I'm asian, too, ) anyhow, you being form Gerogia..not that many apps.... regionallity will help. focus on your essays!! like on your work in SCA and in also in church, good luck!!!! that try and set yourself apart form other asains

I'd say you're in at NYU if that major is in the College of Arts and Science and not Stern. I got in CAS w/ Pre-Law major and I had lower stats, and I'm asian too. But be warned, NYU is kinda cheap. They gave me less money than UCDavis in grants/scholarships, and they cost 3-4 times more! Anyway, CAS = In.

thanks ilikeoranges...i had no idea NYU was cheap. I'll keep that in mind.

Do any other schools on my college list tend to be cheap as well, besides GA Tech??

bump.........

bump. bump. bump.

anyone else please???

hey you were at JAMA?! I was there just recently...sorry for being random ^_^''
