ALSO: UNC, Vanderbilt, NYU, Georgetown.
Ok so I'm a junior.
UC GPA: 3.8

My projected SAT scores are around 2100
Senior Course load: Will have AP Macro, AP Stats, AP Gov, and APES.

EC'S:
Varsity lettered on Snowboard team (I'm from idaho)

2 Years of Lacrosse
State-ranked #3 in Lincoln-Douglas debate (led team to state championship)
Church Worship Band
Been a child actor for 7-8 years (before i moved to idaho for high school) w/starring roles on various national commercials, popular T.V. shows, and one starring role in an animated Disney movie released in 08'. (And NO I am not making this up, that would just be wasting my time and yours.)

If you could, please put %'s by each college of what you think the likeliness of acceptance is? Thank you!!

Your senior schedule and ec’s are pretty impressive. Like the poster above said the lack of ap/ib classes may hurt you if you apply to ivy league or top colleges. The fact that you are an actor may set you apart from other students because a lot of kids will have tough classes, high gpa, and high sat scores but not many can say they were actors.

The acting is a bonus. I’d say you’re likely to get into NYU (unless Tisch, but still probably Tisch), UNC, UCLA. Gtown, Vandy, and Berkeley are slight reaches, but not unthinkable.

Berkeley is a GPA whore and I think your GPA is below Berkeley’s average. That said, I would still push you to apply there. You wouldn’t know… Berkeley has holistic admissions.

are you a california resident and cali high school graduate? if you are an idaho resident, that will make a big difference. UCLA and CAL Berkeley are california public schools. 90% of the students are california residents. that only leaves 10% for foreign and out of state kids. but you still have an okay chance for admission. just not that easy unless you live here (california).

as far as i understand GPA, the UC system uses the 4.0 system, as does my school. this means that it is impossible to get above 4.0. all those kids with GPA’s listed above 4.0 will be readjusted to the UC calculated 4.0 system. those above 4.0 seem to be called “weighted”.

and “unweighted” GPA is what really counts if you ask me. when they adjust their weighted GPA’s they usually fall below 4.0. the weighted GPA’s that i have seen listed on here are all High School GPA’s. I can guess that the UC system does look at AP courses as positive, but I do not think that they ultimately rate kids with higher than 4.0 GPA’s in the UC schools themselves. looking at the UC admission charts they do not go over 4.0. anyway, perhaps there is something that i am missing. good luck peeps!

that’s what I thought too, but I have found several different UC gpa calculators now. I used all of them, and my UC gpa is still about a 3.8. Is that really a weak chance for Berkeley and UCLA? All their info says they’re holistic and say that gpa is only a piece of the pie, but everyone seems to think i already shot myself in the foot here.

you only want to use a GPA calculator on the main UC site, if they even have one. 3.8 is a very high Unweighteded GPA. if it is unweighted you should have a superb chance for admission, right? here is a chart from the UC site that shows evaluation info for each school. but these are transfer stats, not sure about freshman stats.

Bring up that SAT, and you should be good to go for both UCB and UCLA. NYU depends on the school you’re aiming for. Overall, your EC’s and GPA are great. The 2100, however, is not so hot.
