★ Any suggestions on what more I can do, if I have any chance, or alternative school choices are GREATLY appreciated! Thank you so much! ★

Bowdoin: Reach

What’s your safety?

I think UVM is going to be my safety. I like U Michigan, Colby, Wesleyan, and CMU as well.

If you don’t mind me asking though, what do you see as my weakest point(s)? Is there anything I can do to improve?

UVT: Safety (even with a presidential scholarship it’s pretty expensive)
UMI: Safety (don’t expect much financial aid)
Colby: Match
Wesleyan U: Reach
Wesleyan College: Low match
CMU: High match

I’m also a junior with pretty similar app. and Bowdoin is my dream school. The science research on conservation/ecology will probably help a lot because Bowdoin is big on that kind of thing. Your GPA is really good but your ACT is maybe a little low for Bowdoin…have you considered taking the SAT? Some people are naturally better at one or the other, so I’d say it’s worth a shot. Your EC’s, community service, and awards look decent, so I’d say you have a chance. Good luck!

@Catria: Thanks!

@carojasmine: Yeah, I’m hoping the combined science and outdoors will help me out :slight_smile:
I’m taking the SAT in January already; my plan is to compare the results and then work hard on the one I do better on. Thank you so much for your help! Good luck with Bowdoin yourself!

Bowdoin is a test optional school, so unless you have killer scores, I would not submit them. I would strongly encourage an on campus interview. Also, if you plan on participating in sports, you should reach out to the coach.

If Bowdoin is your dream school you should think about ED.

All the above would give you the best possible chance.

solid chance

@DadPolarBear: Thank you so much for the suggestions! I’ll definitely look into a campus interview and applying ED. And yes! the fact that Bowdoin is test optional is so incredible. I really admire them for it. Just another reason to love the school!

@Pixel101: thanks!

I think if your school offers more APs your senior year, you should take them. Course rigor senior year is often forgotten by most students and might just be the icing on the cake to show how much you want it. Also, when the time comes write killer essays haha

@izzya219: ooooo I probably should… I’ve been considering AP Stats and/or AP Literature (in addition to AP Comp Gov’t and AP Marcro) but I’m still not sure. Thanks for the great suggestions though you’re totally right!

Good luck! I’m sure you will love and do well at any number of schools!
