<p>I attend a public high school that rarely sends kids to Ivy Leagues. The best we had this year was a student enrolling to Washington and Lee University, and on a sports scholarship.</p>

<p>I'm Korean American, live in WA State.
My intended major is either English or Biological Sciences
Parent's Income is less than 60k</p>

<p>GPA: 4.0 unweighted (school doesn't do weighted)
Rank: Top 1% out of a class of about 320</p>

<p>SAT: 2110 (650 CR, 720 M, 740 W)
ACT: Taking in September, aiming for 33+
SAT2: Taking Math 2 and Lit in October- Aiming for 750+</p>

<p>APs: Human geography, European History, Chemistry, US History, Language, Literature, Calculus, French, Government, Physics (total of 10. 5 of these are for senior year)</p>

<p>Clubs:
- Founder and president of Books for Africa Club (we collect and donate books to Africa) - 2 years
- Debate (2 years)
- National Honor Society: (Member 1 year, Secretary 1 year, president 1 year)
- LINK Crew (2 years)</p>

<p>Sports:
- Cross Country Runner (1 year)
- Varsity Golf (three years and will be captain)</p>

<p>ECs:
- Junior class senator
- Senior class president
- Nominated Outstanding Junior in my school district
- Selected by my golf coach to be a part of the Student Athlete Leadership at my school
- My mom owns a deli so I'm always there working whenever I'm not at school</p>

<p>Awards:
- Perfect Attendance (4 years)
- Varsity/Activity letters in Golf and National Honor Society (3 years)
- Golf Captain's Award
- MVP Award for Golf
- WIAA Outstanding Scholastic Award (3 years)
- SPS League Scholar Athlete Award (3 years)
- First place People's Choice Award for my school's Art Show
- Honorable Mention for school's Art Show/Film Festival</p>

105 hours at a local hospital

I'm very good at writing and so application essays will not be a problem/obstacle</p>

<p>Brown is my dream school so I will be applying ED.

<p>Excellent stats! As I’m sure you’ve heard before, you can be “perfect” and still not get in. I would say the reaches are:
UChicago, Columbia, Brown</p>

<p>and you have good to very good chances at all the other schools…I’d take the SAT again if I were you, but it’s still a solid score. <p>Your stats/ECs/etc are great, but your SATs are low - you should retake them unless you absolutely nail the ACT.</p>

<p>Brown ED: Reach
Cornell: Reach
Uchicago: High match/low reach
Columbia: Reach
Wesleyan: Low match/match
NYU: Safety/Low match
Williams: High match/low reach
Vanderbilt: Match/High match</p>

<p>However, those reaches (ivies) are reaches for anyone regardless of stats. You should definitely apply - but raise those SATs!</p>

<p>What score should I aim for on the ACT? I will be retaking the SATs in November but I’m not sure if I’ll send those scores for my ED application.</p>

<p>I would go for above 33 and definitely above 30 for each section. I think it’s definitely a good idea to take it no matter what. It just gives you more options. I didn’t want to take the ACT because I had done a practice test and the time limit was brutal, but I sucked it up and went in and got a 36.</p>

<p>For the ACT, above a 33 or 34 would be ideal. That translates to roughly a 2200 on the SAT, I believe - but don’t quote me on that.</p>

<p>750+ in both those subject tests would be very beneficial. You seem like you have some solid Clubs and stuff. An SAT of 2200+ would also be beneficial, or a score of 34+, but I can’t say either of these will get you admission at Brown, writing a stellar essay would probably help the most. Probably match at Cornell and NYU, attainable reach for Brown and Columbia if the subjective aspects of your application(essay, rec’s) are good.</p>

<p>Your stats look wonderful, but be aware of something. You mention u have an income of 60k, so you are probably expecting significant financial aid. However, you say your mother owns a business. This will factor heavily in the amount of aid you qualify for. Just be aware of this.</p>

<p>It looks good, but what’s with your test scores? What kind of korean kid doesn’t get an 800 on SAT math. Don’t even get me started on math II. You can get 10% of the questions wrong and still get an 800.</p>

<p>I think u have a solid chance. Your EC are awesome and u have a leadership role too! volunteering is also nice. Your standardized test score is a little low for a school like Brown, though. Given your high GPA with all those APs I would say u have a low reach for Brown (virtually no one has a match for an Ivy League)</p>

<p>@loozer SAT math has never been my strong suit. it’s inaccurate to classify all koreans as mathematicians ha.</p>

<p>Activities aren’t particularly impressive. Also, try retaking the SAT / ACT. I think your test scores are the weakest part of your application.</p>

<p>I don’t know too much about the whole admissions and aid process since I myself am a rising high school senior. However, I’ve read some posts on cc about kids who applied ED expecting a ton of aid due to having low income, but due to their parents’ ownership of a business they received much less aid than they thought. It is because things like NPC’s do not take into account business ownership, which is something the CSS Profile does look at. It is my understanding that this profile is a large part of determining financial aid for private institutions.</p>
