THANK YOU! for TAKING THE TIME to read this please chance

bump10char

GPA is on the low side for U-M. Everything else is OK. Slight reach.

what? really? i thought it was good target…

The average unweighted GPA for CoE is a 3.9, and the average SAT is a 1420/1600. Your course rigor, and extracurriculars are above average, but I don’t know how much that will help with your low GPA. I think your admission depends primarily on how the admissions counselors view your GPA. If your school really is competitive, and the grade distribution reflects that, your GPA probably wont be held against you. I would be willing to say you are probably a match for Michigan.

thanks! thats what i expected.

can you chance me for the rest of the schools as well?

Safety:

purdue, university of maryland, villanova

Match:

university of illinois urbana champaign, Georgia institute of technology, harvey mudd

Slight Reach:

JHU, Michigan, cornell, berkley, washu, c. mellon university, vanderbilt, georgetown

I suspect you will get into some of the reaches but I couldn’t tell you which ones. You’re more likely to get into the ones that favor test scores vs. GPA. I don’t see anyting that I would call a major reach.

I think this goes to what I was saying in one of the other chance threads.

There were a couple people asking for their chances with 3.9s but their weighted GPAs were only like a 4.1

I would think Michigan would realize the difference in course rigor and take his into account when looking over his application. Especially if his school is as competitive as he says it is.
