<p>Chances to get into Cornell and JHU? what about any other top-notch schools?</p>
<p>They are both reaches and JHU would probably not be affordable for you-aid goes to top students in their pool.</p>
<p>You have an excellent rank, and because of that, your test scores (which are poor compared to the rest of the Cornell and JHU applicant pool) may be slightly overlooked because of your rank. Also, your upward trend in GPA is good, but 3.8 UW is still on the lower end of the spectrum for these two schools.</p>
<p>Frankly, because of your hook (first generation college student) and your family income, your chances to Cornell and JHU increase dramatically. Because of the disadvantages you’ve had to face, requirements will also be loosened up on you a bit in respect to all areas. Still keep in mind, though, that your schools are reaches. What’s your ethnicity?</p>
<p>Also, if you can retake that SAT and get a 2150+, you’d have a great shot rather than just a good one.</p>
<p>Other top-notch schools that I believe you’d probably be accepted to (with good financial aid!) include Rice, Emory, Vanderbilt, and Duke.</p>

<p>JHU, not being a big endowment school, is not among those actively seeking the low income. Very, very few schools do, so it’s important not to think every school values what the holy grail CC schools do.</p>
