<p>His GPA is a bit low for these schools. Many schools do not count freshmen grades that may help his chance (uw GPA=~3.8). With SAT at 1440/2100, he would be a high match for UMich. Match for UNC.</p>

<p>@billcsho jw, would it be rly hard for a kid in nyc to get into UNC though? because its like a state school and ny is like far away…?</p>

<p>Oos for public schools are more competitive and cost is higher too. Campus location is a personal preference. NC is a bit away from NY, but not that bad.
It would be even more expensive and more competitive for UMich if that matter. The campus setting is similar to UNC.</p>
