ur GPA is not that bad!!
I was very impressed when u said u made 5 figures lol

GPA is horrible. Being a girl will help a lot too, applying to engineering. SAT is pretty good. Not strong, but definitely puts you in Cornel’s ballpark. SAT Iis are pretty much perfect

If you apply Early Decision, I’d say you have a very good chance of getting in, Definitely mention your success with that networking project.

Your GPA is on the low side but I am curious about your business pursuits. I would certainly consider building an essay around your work/business. When you say 5 figures do you mean $10,000 or are we talking a substantially higher income? Not that I think it matters what your salary was (adcoms will find this interesting), but the fact that you have demonstrated this type of creativity, resourcefulness, and attention to a something you have started is something to talk about. Be sure the adcoms know all about your work especially since it is tied into your prospective major.

You are also varsity track, a female, and interested in engineering…If you write a great essay which could present you the way you are appearing to me I think you could get into Cornell. Be sure to do very well with your AP classes this year. All the schools will be requesting your 1st and 2cd marking period grades. They should be all A’s.

I really wish you lots of luck…I am sure whatever school you attend will be happy to have you.

Definitely apply. As an alum, I would be thrilled if they admitted someone with your combination of smarts and initiative. Go for it for sure!!

I had a 3.38 UW and got in.

momma-three - more than 10k. lower than 90k . :stuck_out_tongue: i’d rather not say exactly how much ^.^ I did base my essay on that and my cornell supplement essay on a startup idea I had that’s being looked at by angel investors, incubators, and venture capitalists :].

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys  Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure I will be receiving a “B” in ceramics…x] . I’m not very good at it… haha. I really hope I get into cornell though :3 It’s an amazing school and my top choice ivy :D

Well you have some very impressive stuff going on. Cornell loves kids who are interesting and you have certaining demonstrated that you are a fit for your major.

Once again, wishing you a welcome to Cornell letter.

I hope so too  Thank you momma-three!

I have an added EC now:

I was recruited for the robotics team this year. We compete in the international robotics competition RoboSub (cornell engineering competes in this also). We are the only high school team competing among top engineering schools.

In 2010 we placed 5th internationally and in 2011 we placed 10th internationally.

As for grades so far, I have all As and one A+ (calculus BC). I do expect some of my As to drop to A-s just because some of my teachers don’t believe in giving out solid As - so they actually make it impossible by deflating grades haha :P!

Loopyz

First of all, except in the bizarro world of College Confidential, 3.7 is not a ‘very low’ GPA. It’s actually pretty high. Perhaps, it is a bit below average for Cornell though I’m not certain how below average it is. However, something also not discussed – all 3.7s are not alike. Cornell recognizes that all schools are not not the same, and does take into account the reputation of the high school, grading policies, etc.

Also, Cornell actively pursues qualified female engineering students – if you look at the data, you will see that the admissions rate for females is much higher than for men.

I think you will be a competitive candidate at Cornell.
