I am currently a junior and I really want to go to Cornell. I am thinking about applying early to arts and sciences.
I have about a 92/100 GPA out of a difficult high school. I have a 2130 SAT score (800 math, 710 writing, 620 reading). I have been on my schools varsity swim team since I was a freshman. I have been on my schools baseball team since I was a freshman (2 JV 1 Varsity). Also, I was on my schools JV cross country team for freshman and sophomore years. I am involved in DECA (a business club) and I have received a regional award. Also, I am heavily involved in research at my school and have received several science awards.
I will have taken 8 APs by the completion of next year. They are AP World, AP Physics B, AP US history, AP Psychology, AP Biology, AP Law and Government, AP Calculus AB, and AP Statistics. I will also be an Eagle scout. I have taken 4 SAT II's Math I (800), Math II (790), Chemistry (700), and Biology (710).
Please Chance. Thanks!

Also what would be my chances at U Penn, Lehigh, Bucknell, U Rochester, BU, Brown, Northwestern, U Michigan (Ann Harbor), Wash. U. In St. Louis, and Colgate. Thanks!

I would say wash u and northwestern are likely, cornell is a maybe, and penn and brown are reaches

Your subscores are kind of like mine haha. I think that if you raise that reading score to at least near a 700 you will have a chance at Cornell. I can’t speak for the other top Ivies because even with amazing scores you might not get in. I think the fact that you are an eagle scout is also REALLY good for colleges. Good Luck!

Ill chance back. please chance me

Correct me if my statistics are wrong but the Cornell ED acceptance rate was what 35% this year?
Considering its not a bad number I’d say you have a shot. I’d agree that you might want to bump up the reading score a bit.

Chance me back

I really like your extracurriculars man, are you planning to keep playing a sport in college? That would definitely help a lot. If possible I would try to retake your SAT, just to maybe solidify your resume because the course rigor is already pretty impressive. I would say… With a little better SAT you have a really good shot at Cornell, not that your score will ruin your chances though. Penn and Brown are a little less likely, probably like 40-50%,but about the same as Cornell for Washu and Northwestern. For the rest I would say 60-70% chances or higher, I THINK!

Just by the way this was the guy you posted on earlier, thanks!

These people are crazy. Cornell is almost a sure thing. Your saving grace? 8 APs. Mix that with your extra-curriculars and your SAT-- you’re set.

Improve your writing sub-score on the SAT and you will be golden at Cornell.

I was like you. I had a 800 m 800w and 650 cr

But I worked all summer and a got a 35 on my act. Then i got into 3 of the 5 ivies I applied to. I am a regular kid, no hooks. Just get your scores up and you will have a fighting chance.

thanks for responding

also does anyone know if it would be better to take AP economics next year and take two AP exams instead of Law and Gov with one test. Do colleges accept two Economics credits?
