Chance for CS major from CC to UCSD, Berkeley

The following stats are after one year:
3.8 GPA
55 quarter units
~70% of prereqs completed
2 English classes, planning to do IGETC
2 Ws (both in the same quarter)

EC:
On-campus internship refurbishing computers (~50 hrs)

That's really the only relevant extracurricular I have, but I'm planning to start tutoring and hopefully will have some hours before the application in November. I have no actual work experience. I've just started my essay but it will most likely be average.

I’d say you’re probably in at UCSD.

Are you applying to EECS or L&S at Berkeley? EECS is really competitive and hard to chance, but you’ve definitely got a shot. L&S is easier to get into, but you have to declare your major after transferring, and they just raised those requirements.

In terms of ECs, picking up a pet project could help your chances. Code a game, start a soldering project, I dunno. But it’s not hard to find CS things to do that that can go on your application. :P

Yeah, L&S CS. From what I see the requirements are a 3.0 GPA and completed prerequisites. So if I were admitted into the college of L&S I’d have to finish up the prerequisites (a few are not offered at any CC), and maintain a 3.0 for those classes?

And thanks for the project idea, that sounds like something I could do.
