<p>SAT: 2180 first time (740R 780M 660W). Superscored: 2260
GPA: 4.0 unweighted and 4.87 weighted.
Class rank: 9/350
I'm taking the most difficult classes at my school (IB year 11 and 12).</p>

<p>EC's: Volunteer for a start-up nonprofit that teaches kids how to eat healthy, went on 2-week mission trip to Puerto Rico to build 10 houses, drummer and Music Director for youth group praise band, lots of small volunteer work, led a group of volunteers to renovate low-income housing for single moms pursuing a college degree.
Traditional EC's and Awards: Varsity Tennis, 2nd in economics at the NC FBLA State Competition.
Band EC: 2nd in NC on Timpani in 8th grade, multiple District Honors Band performances, principal percussionist for the Union Symphonic Youth Orchestra, percussion tutor for middle school kids, played drum set multiple times for school plays, played drum set in the All-County play.
Club leadership: 1st Priority Officer (1 year), FBLA Officer (2 years)</p>

<p>Essay should be really good. Don't mind my SAT writing.
Teacher recommendations: At least one will be amazing. Band Director said, "You are the best student I've had in 14 years of teaching..."</p>

<p>Thanks for the responses! So I should have a better chance at Duke than at Penn? And I always thought that Duke and Davidson were in the same range of selectivity, but perhaps not. This is all good information.</p>

<p>Penn is really hard to get into, unless applying ED. 9% RD acceptance rate this yr.</p>

<p>Its hard to tell whether you’ll have a better shot at Duke than Penn as both are rather similar in selectivity. </p>

<p>On the other hand, both Davidson and Duke accept students of similar caliber but Duke is significantly more selective. That’s not to say that there aren’t students who got into Duke but not Davidson but on the whole Duke is more competitive.</p>

<p>I think Upenn is definately harder to get into than Duke, but diversity stuff might help u at penn so idk.</p>
