Duke: Reach
Northwestern: Reach
Cornell: Reach
UNC OOS: Low reach
UCLA OOS: Low reach
UCB OOS: Reach
WashU: Reach
Most of these colleges are suuuuuper selective bro, strong W GPA, but what is UW?, weak ACT (for these schools, shoot 33-34 range), mediocre ECs (except dance), overall decent chance, best of luck to you!

Your weighted GPA is low at 4.1. Since you took the most rigorous coursework offered, I’m guessing your unweighted GPA is around a 3.5, which is actually quite low. If you’re ranked in the top 2% that’ll help. a 31 on the ACT is not very high for any of those schools. It is slightly above average for UCLA, and it is ok for UNC OOS. It is below the average for the rest. Being Asian does not help.

I know, these are only my selective colleges. I’ve already applied to and been accepted to some great match schools. Thanks for the feedback! Are any of these absolutely out of the question?

I wouldn’t say any of them are absolutely out of the question. I would say Duke and Cornell are very unlikely, unless I’m overlooking something in your application. I would give you under 20% at both of those schools.

Nothing’s OUT of the question, i mean people with 3.2s get into Duke on a rare occasion, but if i HAD to say…Cornell and Duke…but prove me wrong :)

Your numbers are good enough to apply to any of these schools.

Top 1-2% of your class is probably a bit above average. 31 ACT probably puts you around the 25th percentile of the incoming class for most of them. So … reach-ish, but not impossible.

So long as you have a few true ‘matches’ and at least one true academic+financial safety, apply to as many of the above as you wish.

Duke: Reach
Northwestern: Reach
WashU: Reach
Cornell: Slightly low Reach
UNC: Slightly low Reach (Out of state competition is on par with school’s like Cornell)
UCB: Low reach
UCLA: High Match

How accomplished are you with cultural dance? Is this an activity you could pursue in college? Biology/pre-med will put you in an especially competitive category at all of these schools.

Assuming no (if yes, that could help your chances significantly) than Duke, UNC OOS, Northwestern, Wash U, Cornell = reaches (less than 20%); UCB, and UCLA = low reaches (30 to 40%) although if you need FA do not expect help from CA publics.

Some ideas re schools (assuming not interested in LACs based on choices): Wake Forest, Emory, Richmond, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, UCSD and UCSB. Good luck!

NEW QUESTIONS: With these stats, at which of the following schools do I have the best chances: Northwestern, Pepperdine, or Tufts? Any that I shouldn’t even bother applying to? Any more suggestions? Thanks!

You’re certainly qualified for all these. With that being said, your biggest worry should be falling into a pile of people with similar credentials who aren’t incredibly distinct from one another. Your grades are definitely up there, but your ACTs aren’t at the same level, miserabile dictu. Did you take any SAT IIs? Those could definitely boost your application, since high level colleges like these get plenty of expendable applications from people with high grades and mediocre test scores. The cultural dance thing is your biggest attribute, so that could hugely help your application; insofar as you demonstrate that your motivation is intrinsic. So:

Duke: Reach
NW: Reach
WashU: Reach
Cornell: Reach
UCB: Low reach
UCLA: high match
UNC: High match
