oh man :P

thanks

oh man :P

thanks

Asian males generally have a harder time getting into these schools, especially since youre playing off a math/science angle. Ive known you for a couple of years, so this may be biased:
MIT reach: Lack of formal math/science credentials, but your activity on AoPS will probably help you out
Caltech match: GPA might hurt you, but I dont think there are many qualified applicants from your state
UChicago match: Tends to waitlist people with higher SAT/GPA, but mathy people don’t usually apply here
Stanford/Princeton reach: You have as much of a chance as anybody else
Carnegie Mellon/Cornell/Berkeley match

Good luck! I dont need a chance back. :P

Pretty good all around, but very stereotypically Asian.
MIT- Reach (For everyone)
Chicago - Low reach
Caltech - Reach
Berkeley - Match
Stanford - Reach
Princeton - Reach
Carnegie Mellon - Match
Cornell - Low Reach

You had enough personality/passion in your writing imo to get me to read the whole stats thing haha. I see what everyone is saying about you being stereotype asian, but I wasn’t feeling that and i totally get your leadership not being demonstrated through rank and title.

that being said
MIT- Mid reach
Chicago - high match
Caltech - Reach
Berkeley - I forget if youre instate and I can’t go back to first page but matchish
Stanford - Reach yup
Princeton - Reach yup
Carnegie Mellon - high match
Cornell - high match

my turn
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1583104-chances-brown-columbia-rice-cmu.html

MIT- Reach
Chicago - High Match
Caltech - Reach
Berkeley - Match
Stanford - Reach
Princeton - Reach
Carnegie Mellon - Match
Cornell - High Match

Cornell and Carnegie look like matches to me…Stanford and Caltech would just be somewhere around low reaches and MIT…well thats not easy for ANYBODY!!

Chance me back please!

Great stats

It would be nice if more people visited; I’ll give equally candid and detailed feedback :P

By the way, I’ve applied to UT Austin/honors programs and UIUC as well, if anyone wants to weigh in on those too.

And I do hope I don’t come off as picky, but I hope the rest of my application (not stats) is strong; I do consider myself something more than just “good stats”. :)

Anyone with feedback?

You seem extremely well rounded, but you’re applying to top class schools and don’t have any “hooks”. Assuming your essays very good, I predict the following:

MIT (Early Action)-Deferred, then rejected
Chicago (EA)-Deferred, then wait-listed
Caltech (EA)-Rejected
UC Berkeley-Accepted
Stanford-Rejected
Princeton-Rejected
Carnegie Mellon (School of CS and College of Science)-Rejected
Cornell (Engineering, Arts/Sciences)-Accepted
UT Austin-Accepted
UIUC-Accepted
Your in-state safety-Obviously accepted.

Please chance me at my thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1586454-chance-me-ut-austin-rice-georgia-tech-rice-wustl-johns-hopkins.html

Thanks in advance!

That’s interesting because 1) CMU MCS is probably easier to get into Cornell science/engineering for most people, and 2) I don’t consider myself well-rounded at all, unless by well-rounded you don’t mean subject-wise (fairly extreme math/CS focus) Thanks though!

I really hope that actual activities matter more than “hooks”; though, obviously I’m pretty misinformed about demographics in college admissions in general…

Bump! (Also, if anyone is still willing to read the whole post, I’ve added UT Austin and UIUC to my list) I will chance you back, as always.

Of course, all ivy colleges are hard to predict even with amazing credentials. However, things seem pretty in line- scores are good as can be. However, your ec could be buffered and as you mentioned, your GPA seems a little below average.

Cornell and Berkeley seem to be solid matches, but the rest seems like they would be reaches.

Thanks for the feedback! Anyone else. (I do ask that you read through the post before making assumptions about ECs/GPA, if possible; I have a feeling that a lot of people haven’t taken what I said into account)
