oh and ill also be happy to chance any1 back! :)

i feel like that it’s gunna be quite a reach for you. your scores could be better. are those GPA’s weighted or unweighted?

by the way, i visited Ithaca recently when i went to tour cornell, hated it. why do you love it so much.

sry i forgot to mention my gpa is unweighted. my school doesnt rank as well

Cornell CALS ED: Reach/Low Reach

I would argue that your multitude of ECs lack a bit of focus and while your ACT is very good, a 31 may be a too “average” relative to other competitive applicants. However, I am impressed by your tough course load this year and your high SAT II score. In addition, they will certainly appreciate your increasing GPA from 9th to 11th grade. Cornell usually treats students from Upstate very well so I think that you will benefit greatly from that – especially if you are from Ithaca.

Do you have a specific passion or interest that is reflected in your ECs? Overall, if you write a good essay, you will certainly be a very strong applicant especially in ED.

Best of luck! (We might see each other next year if we both get into CALS!)

Chance me back? : )

Your gpa would average to a 3.7~ unweighted. It’s not as good as others… but shows an upward trend! your ecs are not bad but your sports are good! Your standardized test scores are pretty good! You’ve had a rigorous course load which also looks good. Make sure your essays are killer and that your teacher recs are awesome too! Don’t set your heart all in one school… make sure you have some backups! Chance me back! (:

Thanks!

I’d say mid-reach. Your GPA is holding you back, unless your rank is top 10, in which case your school is difficult and that’s an excuse for the GPA. Otherwise, mid-reach. Also your ACT score is good, but not as solid as it should be for Cornell.

yea i agree about the low gpa…but hopefully they will see that my middle school grades lowered my gpa and that my i didn’t have a great start freshman year?

chance me and ill chance back! :)

ACT could use little more work, but other than that GPA would be the only factor that will hold you back into entering Cornell.

With good ECs, I think you have a chance at Cornell. I would say Reach.

Chance me back =)?

alright thx for ur input

I would say mid reach. It would help if you wrote very passionate, interesting essays, as Cornell weights these heavily. Applying ED shows interest in the school, but you also need to show fit for the school within Cornell that you are applying to. This, combined with a little bump up in the standardized testing area should give you a decent chance (i.e. low reach) Good Luck!!

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1008082-upenn-ed-chance-w-low-gpa.html#post1065679134

thanks.

I expect excellent letter of recs and solid/very unique essays

You have a decent shot at cornell ED. Your EC’s are pretty good, and your class rank will definitely play a factor (what is it?), as cornell heavily considers how you did against your peers. I know its a bit late, but you may want to retake the SAT or the ACT and shoot for a bit higher score; I say this not because your score will keep you out or anything, but because it is rather average (that is for an ivy league school) and consequently you would benefit from standing out that way a bit more. Being from NY is a plus I think…Where are you from? I’m originally from the syracuse-liverpool area, are you like 1000 islands upstate or more central? The actual location of your school could affect your chances, as if you are wicked upstate, like the massena area or something, you have a better chance of getting in. I wish you the best of luck, and thanks for your chance!

Hi, thanks for your input! my school doesnt rank at all so I don’t really have a clue what my class rank is but I would say im safely in the top 15% I live in tuxedo so I’m not really high upstate. I would take the ACT/SAT again but I have so much going on right now that I feel that taking it again would only hurt my score and create more pressure/stress. I think I am going to have to stick with my average ACT score =/

Your ECs are very good!!! I don’t really know much about the ACT but I think your score there is good as well, as are the subject tests…while this is a competitive school I’d say write very good essays to give this your best shot.
