Chance for ED! (International Student)

hmmm you have a point there, they haven’t taken anyone from Pakistan in the past 3 years and the first Pakistani to go Williams was 3 years back and he had similar stats. Normally people from here apply to Williams through RD and end up getting wait listed or rejected.
I guess I will give ED a shot and hope for the best !

I have no doubt about you getting in, but I’m really hoping you get the financial aid package you need! I hate that financial aid is such a determining factor for us. Good luck and keep us posted :)

Williams is exceptionally difficult for Int’l students who need aid. I know this from experience–applicants with incredible profiles who didn’t get in.

Amherst or Midd (heck, even Princeton) are better bets if you definitely need aid.

That said, it’s not out of the question and you are a very strong candidate.

How do you know that there hasn’t been a student from Pakistan in 3 years?

Thanks everyone, I’ll make sure to keep everyone posted on what happens on Dec 15 :)

@Eumi12… College admissions here are a HUGE deal, all the top schools are aware whose gone where by the summers…this year 11 students to Oxford, 6 students to Cambridge, 5 students got into HYPS simultaneously , 3 to Upenn, 3 to MIT and so forth. I personally knew a few of them. The track record has remained like this for a while. However NO ONE got into Williams even the people who got into HYPS and all. Goes to show how selective they are.

Your ECs are great. Working for the Human Rights Commission and touring asia looks really good on your Resume.

Good luck! Hope it works out. And definitely apply ED. As other have said, if you get accepted, they will meet your financial aid, Williams has some of the best financial aid awards of any school. In fact, part of the reason that Williams (and I still disagree with the decision) eliminated need blind admissions for international students is because oftentimes, Williams was (by the school’s formulas) compelled to award a massive percentage of the overall fin aid budget to international applicants. They are still just as generous with the international applicants they accept, it’s just that now, they essentially cap the number of international with financial need they offer admissions to. But if you DO get in, you’ll be golden, so there is absolutely no reason NOT to apply via the ED route if Williams is your dream school / first choice.

^^^Ephman speaks the truth^^^.Good luck!
