I really want to visit Lehigh, but since I live so far away from lehigh and there is no way that
my host family is going to give me a ride to there, it would be impossible for me to visit the campus ..
Is there any other way to show interest in Lehigh? (other than applying ED)
I did lots of research and I really LOVE Lehigh!!!!!
But I know that its a reach for me, so I am really worried that I wouldnt get in even if I apply for ED.
You are scoring 800 in math on pretests! Why would you think Lehigh is a reach for you??? Good grief! Schools do not expect students to be super human. Sounds like Lehigh would be a great fit for you. If Lehigh is your top choice and financial aid is not a deal breaker by all means apply early decision! I think you really have a chance to get accepted.
How far away are you living? If you aren’t living on the East coast you may be also considered part of Lehigh’s geographic diversity goals. If you haven’t visited the school it might be helpful to explain in your application why you think Lehigh is right for you.
If your school does not offer AP courses if will not hurt you. Lehigh takes the time to get to know the schools the applicants attend. Besides, with you scoring so high in math it looks like the lack of AP is not hurting you! Haha!!!
I don’t think they expect every student to have had a “leadership” position. Small schools like Lehigh give students opportunities for more leadership positions. You have been very active and involved in many areas. I think admissions will be impressed with that.
You understand no what can really tell you what your chances are. Admissions in a smaller school is more complicated than just grades and test scores. There are only so many slots available in the accounting department and it is one of their top majors.
That said, as a parent of a Lehigh grad, I think you would have a really strong chance of getting accepted! Lehigh would be really lucky to have you! Best of luck!!!
@kikkydee Thank you so much for your detailed response!! I live in VA- my town is probably about 8-9hrs away from Lehigh. It is not TOO far way but if I want to visit Lehigh, I will have to go by flight by myself.
If you believe it is possible for you to visit the school I would contact your admissions officer and let them know you are unable to visit. I would ask the admission officer if they are going to be anywhere in the area this fall so you could try to meet with them for an interview. Demonstrated interest plays heavily into the admission process at Lehigh.
You know, you could always take a train or a bus to visit. You could ask your admission officer if they could arrange for you to stay some students. There is a Comfort Suites Hotel that is 3 blocks from the campus. The bus station is a block away from the hotel.
We live really, really far away from Lehigh. We traveled there the summer before our son’s senior year. Right before the regular admission decision date Lehigh has a Diversity Weekend and they fly prospective students in for a weekend. My son was invited and went. They had kids from all over the US flying in to Bethlehem by themselves for the weekend on Friday 6 am flights! I think Lehigh is willing to pay for prospective students to visit because they believe a campus visit is crucial to an informed decision on where a student is going to live and study for the next four years of their life.
Choosing a school is really a personal choice. We took our son to over 20 schools. By the time we got to Lehigh he really knew he liked the feel of the school and campus. I think Lehigh wants the students to be sure the school is a good fit for them. Truly, the only way you will know if the school is right for you is to visit and experience it for yourself!!!. If Lehigh really is your top choice I was strongly advise you to go to the school and visit. You have traveled to Guatemala four times on mission trips - I think you would be safe to travel to Bethlehem by yourself! Think about it!
Please try to visit the school. You are so qualified and would be such an asset to the school. Have you read how much importance the admission officers place on demonstrated interest - visiting the campus. However, if you are going to commit to a binding early decision admission maybe that will make up for not visiting. I would really talk about it to your admission officer about this.
Just so you know, Lehigh’s admission officers are very connected to the applicants and they stay connected to the students as they attend. One of the things we loved the most about Lehigh was how everyone connected with the school reached reached out to us and went out of their way for our son. We visited a couple of times a year and we made an amazingly strong connections with the admissions office, the staff and the professors.
@kikkydee I get to visit Lehigh for my birthday!! I just registered for Lehigh VIEW program and I am SO EXCITED!!!
Your posts on CC helped me so much in learning more about Lehigh, and I just want to say Thank You.
If you can tell me about anything I should know before visiting Lehigh / where to visit in that area, I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much.
My Feb Makeup SAT score came out last week, and my scores are
CR 620 M800 W760 Total 2180
I was hoping to get +650 on CR, but did not improve much…
I am planning to take SAT2 Chem and Math this Summer.
Well so, I looked into CSB program, and I am kind of interested in it,
and does anyone know how competitive it is to get in?
Also, is being an International applicant disadvantage in the admission process?
I saw a thread of this Asian female who had similar test scores but better stats than mine got rejected- she applied ED and had shown interest.
So now I am really worried, because Lehigh is one of my top choice.
And does any of you know whether ED1 and ED2 make any difference (on acceptance rate…etc)?
