please just give me an objective question. I'm not gonna try soften things up like saying "i have nice recs or excellent essay." based on accademics and volunteer/EC's, what kind of a chance do I have on getting in ED? I'm trying to generate opinions
0-10%
10-20%
20-40%
40-75%
75%+?

dude you have excellent stats. Why don't you apply to UPENN or Columbia early instead? You'd definitely have a good chance at the other Ivies!

You can't apply ED to Cornell, JHU, Penn, and Columbia all at the same time, just so you know...And if you can't decide which one to apply to, you shouldn't be considering ED anyway.

i'd love to go to penn or columbia, but i'm not sure i want to risk applying to one of them ED and not getting in. I guess its a fear that I might wake up next year, not going to an absolutley amazing school like hopkins or penn. so, i'm trying to find out what chance I have to get into hopkins early (as well as the other schools like towerp. mentioned). i'm not applying ED to all of them. i'd be happy with any of the four really.

hey wallyfus. I feel your pain about the ED dilemma. I also don't want to wake up and find that I didn't get into any of my equally treasured schools.

If you don't take risks you're going to live a pretty boring life...

Penn, Columbia and Cornell are three very different schools, I'm wondering what you see that makes you like all three, besides the names.

penn and columbia both have the best undergrad. psych programs, both are on east coast, both are in big cities (ideal for field study and job opportunities), and both have plenty of psych. research opportunities.

cornell would have the research facilities for cog sci, but it's a bit lacking for undergrad. psych. also, it's not in a big city.

Johns hopkins was my dream school throughout middle and high school, until i got interested in psych.--i was crushed when i found out that it's psych program sucks. however, it's cog sci research is ok. From what I hear, I have a great chance ED for hopkins and cornell, which both at least have nice research labs for cog sci. however, i'm ruling hopkins out, since it's so far away from home.

so when it comes down to it, I'm choosing betw. research in psych (meaning col. or penn). or research in cog sci (cornell). Penn would be ideal, since it has the whole package, but then it seems like a big risk, since I could be wasting the powers of ED on a school I know would be virtually impossible for me to get into (even under ED).

more opinions please? please be honest. ED deadlines are coming up. I'm done with the essays for all 3 colleges. I just need to choose, which one for ED.

Penn isn't as selective as you think, it's just ranked high...people from my school got in with 1420 and 1450, lower ranks than me and similar extra-curriculars, so I think you should go for it.
