So I don't know if I should apply to Engineering at Wash University. Well, I would like to major in Computer Science or Programming. And well, here is what I have:
IB program
GPA: 3.4 UW, W 4.4
classes: whatever everyone on this website takes...4 yr math, 4 yrs science, 4 yrs foreign language, etc.
I have taken A LOT (meaning 6 advanced computer classes) of computer classes...through the local college and from my school. This should hopefully show my interest. I, however, will not be able to take Calculus because I am in IB Math Studies and you cover Calculus, but you don't get AP Calculus credit and it's kinda easier.
Also, most ppl who probably apply through engineering are probably smarter in math and science...but I want to do Compute Science (which has science but an emphasis on computers)
SAT:
R: 650
W:720
M:740
I don't know if gender or race matters:
femal
asian
Extracurriculars:
I'm in 4 clubs, and I am the president for one for senior year
I am working on my own website which I can hopefully show the school

So can I get into Wash University? I heard Wash Univesity looks at admissions a bit differently than other schools, idk, but I would like to get in, regardless. And do you know of any other schools that I shoud consider?

What was your ACT score?
If you can bump up your Reading SAT, that would help, but it’s not absolutely necessary.
Your UW GPA is a little low, but definitely acceptable, especially if you go to a competitive HS.
Do you know your class rank?
Finally, if WashU is your absolute #1 choice, apply Early Admission. Definitely. If you do, it significantly increases your chance of getting in.

I should elaborate on my previous comment. Your ECs, as vaguely conveyed, seem passable; they won’t meaningfully detract from or help your application.

It is a similar case with your SAT scores. Your scores are slightly subpar for WUSTL, but they certainly won’t keep you out by themselves. However, your grades are decidedly below average for those accepted. Your unweighted GPA hurts your chances significantly.

It may help if I knew your rank if your school does so, though.

thanks guys:
i havent taken the ACT yet.
i go to a big high school which is considered competitive.
my rank is in the top 10-15%
every class in my school is weighed 6 points, thats why my W gpa looks freakishly high for the UW gpa
i am not sure if i want to do early decision, though
my extracurriculars are pretty good, i just didnt elaborate on them because they sound too much like everyone’s on this website. i am on varsity tennis, i do a lot of charity work, generally the creative stuff for events which im sure i could brag about.
also, wash u waitlists most kids who apply at my school, but doesn’t accept them. it only accepted one last year…unlike most top schools who accept a bunch more kids from my school
