Chance for Fall 2010 Transfer Student

I am currently a student at Galveston College in Galveston, TX. By the time I would start at UT in Fall of '09, I will have all of my core classes completed. I would like to get students and people who have worked in admissions opinions on my chances of being admitted as a transfer student.

My current GPA: 4.0 (and I see no reason why it should drop)
All core courses will be complete.
Hoping to be admitted into the College of Liberal Arts as an English Major.
I am a student ambassador for GC and take part in many extra-curricular activities.
I was extremely active in student activities in High School, mainly the speech and debate team, where I placed 3rd and 4th in my events and was elected vice president of the team. There are many other activities that would simply take up too much space.
I also have volunteered at the zoo and at an haunted attraction that collected food cans for the harvest food bank.
I have two very strong letters of recommendation and I have excellent skills in writing, so I am sure my essays will be top notch.

I will be taking two winter mini-semester courses (a mini-semester is during winter break and is less than a month long) so I may apply and receive an admissions decision as quickly as possible.

I am an in-state student and have a sympathetic story and background that I hope will also help me to gain extra financial aid (with the help of a special circumstances form) and scholarships.

For those who do not realize, UT does not consider high school GPA, rank, and SAT scores when considering admission for transfer students.

from what I’ve seen on these forums, the Liberal arts college is the easiest to get into, so with a 4.0, AND being a transfer student, I’d say you’re a shoe in. I’m currently trying to get in the Engineering school with a 3.0 GPA (it’s a looong story, which i included in my essays lol) so relax :)

Trust me, GPA is what matters most and if you keep that gpa above a 3.6, you’re a shoe in for Liberal Arts. Extracurriculars and all that is mostly beneficial when you’re on the brink of being denied. I was accepted into LA Economics with a 3.8, and I guess they saw me as a definite “yes” because I was accepted the day after they received my final transcripts. So don’t stress, just keep those grades up

did you get in? I just applied for spring 2010

I haven’t even sent in my application yet. I can’t because I haven’t finished my 30 credits and the application deadline for the fall is still a ways away.
