I am FREAKING OUT because I'm afraid I won't get into FSU. Could you guys possibly give me idea of my chances of being admitted? (I'm a junior)

GPA: 3.8
SAT: 550 Math, 600 Reading, 620 Writing
ACT: haven't taken it yet
EC: Drama (6 years), Dance, Softball, NHS, ASL Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Peer Ministry, Voice lessons, Community theatre, work experience, and 100+ hours of volunteer work
Classes: by the time I graduate I will have taken 4 honors classes (English 9 and 10, World History, Government/economics), 2 AP's (English and psychology) and 3 DE's (US history, English, World Civilizations) My grades have also shown progression from freshman to junior year, which I believe FSU considers important.
I also go to a private college prep school if that means anything.
I am also in-state.

Please respond. This post took an unusually long time to write.

SAT: Bad. Your math is below their 25th percentile and your CR is quite average.
GPA: Great! Shouldn’t be an issue.
ACT: Good luck! Aim for a 30 or better, as the 75th percentile for FSU is a 28.
ECs: Good, good. It looks like you’ve got what a competitive theater program like theirs is looking for.
Course rigor: Decent. If it’s not too late, pick up another AP or two-- it’ll set you apart. There are many students out there who take two every year, let alone over their entire high school career.
State residency: Could help or hurt you. For example, some state schools let in mostly state residents (like UNC Chapel Hill); others prefer to admit non-residents because they can charge much more for tuition.

Bottom line: Raise those scores, submit a good audition and essay, and you’ll get in. Right now it’s a match/high match-- good luck! :)

Yea, my math scores could definitely be better! I’m taking the SAT two more time, and doing a minimum of 2 hours of SAT prep ( with a concentration in math) a day. I’ve done two practice tests and have already raised it 60 points! The DE classes are basically AP, only better, but I’ll try to get more AP classes in.

CC users tend to grade in categories of In/Safety, Match/Target, and Reach, in increasing difficulty to get in. You’re a good fit for FSU-- it may be a bit tricky to get in, but that’s the caliber of school to which you should be applying. Hence, “match/high match.” :)
