Hi! I am applying to University of Michigan, Georgia Tech, University of Florida(Instate) and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I was wondering if you guys can chance me on these schools? I would appreciate it greatly.

SAT= 2070 (Still have one more chance to take it)
ACT=32 (8 writing)
SAT II= Math II (800) Physics (750)
Unweighted GPA= 3.45
Weighted GPA= 4.8
-13 APs done by graduation
- I'm in the top 10% of my class

Extracurriculars:
-NHS, Rho Khappa(Treasurer), EHS, Mu Alpha Theta (President), Math Team (4 years), Ping Pong Club(President), JSA(Treasurer)

-President of Volunteering Youth club for Chinese Americans

Your unweight GPA looks a little low for UF and GT.

Each of these schools use a different GPA weight system. UF’s gives +.5 points for honor classes and +1 point for AP/IB/AICE/DE classes. For UF, re-calculate your GPA. The middle 50% for UF will be 4.0 to 4.4 (or so). If your UF weighted GPA falls within this range, you should be a Match.

GT will use the weighted GPA as it appears on your transcript(I think this is a recent change). Below is the 2013 GT Freshman class. Note that last year, GT used a different weighting scheme from UF, GT’s gave far fewer points for AP/DE (I think it was 0.5 points), that explains the lower GPA for GT freshmen vs. UF’s.

2013 Freshman Class Profile
Mid-50% GPA: 3.85 - 4.11
Mid-50% SAT: 2000 - 2210
Mid-50% ACT: 29 - 33
Average # of AP/IB/Dual Enrollment classes taken: 6 - 11

You would be a match for GT, though your unweight GPA is a tad low.

Don’t forget your Essay. You’ll need to do a solid job with it, and it would help if you improve your SAT score a bit.

My top college choice is Georgia Tech in order to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.

Below is my high school information…will I have a chance of getting in?

I can’t really give you a reliable answer for any of these except UF. I would be very surprised if you weren’t accepted. Yes, your GPA is low, but the amount of APs you’ve taken offsets that in my opinion. I know people who got in with GPAs around 3.8 but only had 8 APs or less. I hope this helps! Peace be with you!
