Hey, so I’m a junior and I just took the ACT for the second time and have started thinking about college even more since then. What would my chances be at schools like UVA, UNC, U Mich, U Miami, and Wisconsin? I live in Pennsylvania, so OOS is certainly part of the problem.
Some quick facts:
ACT: 32/hoping for 33
GPA: 3.7 unweighted at a good private high school that doesn’t offer AP’s cause they don’t want to teach to a test
ECs: habitat for humanity member starting fresh year, debate club starting junior year, MUN starting junior year, 2 years jv soccer, soph year was captain, 4 years varsity lacrosse, will probably/hopefully be captain next year. Volunteer at nature camp summer freshman year. Lifeguard summer of soph year and this summer. I know these aren’t great ECs but anyway…

With that act you have a good chance for most of these schools. Only thing is GPA but as long as you maintain it and even improve it a little it won’t be that much of a problem. Your ECs are fine if you can get at least one leadership position for next year.
