Chance for Harvard (SCEA) and UNC (EA and In-State)

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to look my profile over and chance it. I'm a rising senior, and just finished my 5 month term in Washington as a US Congressional Page, where I worked on the House floor each day and worked directly with the members of the Democratic side. Please chance me for SCEA at Harvard and EA at UNC (allowed to apply to a state school under Harvard's SCEA policy).

[li] SAT I (breakdown): CR: 700 M: 770 W: 790 T: 2260 (will take again in october, i've been getting 750+ in practice tests in CR, for some reason im better at the CR section than i used to be...)
[/li]

[li] ACT: (am taking in September, my practice tests I've been taking indicate that I will at least get a 34, and probably a 35, either way, I'm not too worried b/c my SAT is decent enough.)
[/li]

[li] Major Awards Continued: US Congressional Page Program, promoted to work in the more esteemed position of cloakroom page, a position which only 6 pages are selected to work in (1/64 in Nation and only few to none are selected from each state) (spend whole semester working in DC and attending school in the top floor of the library of congress at the US House Page School.)
[/li]

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING TIME TO CHANCE ME! I'LL CHANCE BACK IF YOU WANT!

(if you have any questions, please do not refrain from asking in your post)

bumpbumpbump

Thanks for chancing. I’d say your academics are pretty decent but what is lacking is your awards; you have one pretty impressive one so maybe it is enough? Your ECs show diversity and but more leadership roles would be nicer.

I’d say Harvard will be pretty hard because it expects people with higher grades; or at least people with more EC and other awards. You’ve a mixture of all 3 but nothing really stands out. Just my opinion

great chance! being from a tiny school and Washington will definitely help your chances. Geographic diversity ftw! also, very interesting EC’s!

You will defnitley get into UNC. I think you would be wonderful canidate at Harvard :)

I don’t know about Harvard because every time I try to chance someone for an Ivy I’m way off lol. But my initial reaction was “why wouldn’t you get in?” Everything seems to be just about right.

I’m positive UNC will accept you, especially how you’re in-state.

Good job on everything! With stats like those whatever school you go to will be lucky to have you.

What’s your passion? Politics? If so, impressive EC’s w/ your internship & being a a white house page  You haven’t listed many awards and leadership positions, though. So that may be a set-back. Oh & great scores! I would just retake some SAT II’s…

Honestly, H’s admission is soooo unpredictable. I’ve been reading many, many actual results threads and I still can’t figure it out. There are people who love the sciences & have excelled greatly (Siemens & intel FINALISTS & USABio,Chem, or Phys Olympiad winners at the same time & great scores, etc.) and they’re stiiiilll not accepted. Same goes for other fields of interest. And then there are those who have no apparent hook, lower scores, etc. but are somehow accepted…

I think you have a better chance than most people b/c of the congressional page opportunity you had, but then again that’s your only “hook” and there are some weaknesses that drag that plus down.

Sorry if I’m not much help, but I told you everything that I was on my mind. Good luck, though! You have a better chance than I do.

Your academics are certainly fit for the top schools, but your EC’s are lacking, unfortunately. If you are interested in cooking, definitely stress that along with your work for the Boys and Girls club and the congressional page internship. Your EC’s may not have a clear cut focus, but you can write them in such a way that they do by arranging/highlighting them specifically throughout your app and essays.

Good luck, and thanks for chancing me :)

Superb academics, UNC is an automatic. However, Harvard is obviously still a reach.

well UNC like everyone said you can get in even easily. But the most intriguing thing about Harvard is it’s a reach no matter what (unless ur George Bush’s son) and I find it interesting that people keep asking them to chance it (like me! lol).

Also, first gen college is MAJOR hook. A killer essay about this would have the harvard admissions officers beggin for you to come.

Anyways thanks for chancing me.
