nice scores and gpa! i think the intelligent teenager organization is what’s going to make you stand out, good job! i also like the amount of awards!

Harvard: Reach
Princeton: Reach
Yale: Reach

These are reaches for everyone, but at least it’s not a ‘high-reach’ :)

chance back? same schools! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1513395-chances-hyp.html</a> thanks :D

Always take chance threads lightly. I only say this because no one on CC is an admissions counselor (including me). But, I would just say something. Your ECs are diverse and extensive. If I was in your position, I would mold my application so that your passion is clear to those reviewing your application, while still keeping a few references to the fact that you are very well rounded. You don’t want admissions counselors to have to search for what you’re passionate about in a super long list of ECs.

I will not specifically chance to schools because I think it is worthless

lol true thank you and sure!

With that said, if you get rejected, it’s just out of spite that your r

lmao!! so u think i shud focus around mainly my passion for business? im writing my essay on it too.

my 1st choice is Brown, however lol, how r my chances for brown as well?

Your SAT1 score is good, but SAT2 scores are so so. GPA is around average for HYP while course load is not very rigorous. You do have an extensive list of EC but it is hard to see where your passion is. Your chance at HYP and MIT would be around average applicants. You should have a better chance at Cornell, Brown, JHU, etc. BC should be your low match and almost a safety.

thanks. yeah im scared mostly about my weak course load…i just rly wanna go to brown…shud i focus my ECs on business or science depending on the school?

bumppppp!!

Hi bmonticello23,

First of all, as a fellow junior I am very jealous of your incredible resume. :)

I think you stand a great chance wherever you are applying, and I don’t really see why anyone would reject you unless your essays weren’t very good.

Have you considered Duke by the way? You have indicated you are interested in pursuing biomedical engineering and they have one of the top-ranked departments in the world. Also, you might be up for one of their very selective merit scholarships, and who could resist a full ride to a top ten school? :)

Good luck!

Your scores and extracurriculars both look fantastic. You should have a better shot than most at these schools, but, again, nothing is guaranteed. I’d agree with my fellow posters with classifying them as mid-reaches.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1513041-chances-rice-cornell-columbia.html</a></p>

You have amazing stats and ECs. My advice would be to try and show focus and passion on a certain area of your ECs, and then you’ll have a great chance at all those schools. Good luck!:)

Boston Coll: Safety
Brown Univ: High Match/Low Reach RD, Match, maybe even a safety ED
CMU: Low Match/Match
Columbia: Low Reach/Reach
CU: Safety
Cornell: High Match
Dartmouth: Low Reach
HYP: All Reaches, but that’s only because they’re always crapshoots
MIT: Reach
Johns Hopkins: Match

Your candidacy is amazing. I will be surprised if you don’t get into at LEAST 1/4 of HYPM, and if you apply Brown ED you will most certainly get in. The one thing that stands out is that hook. That hook is fantastic, because colleges love to see people supporting themselves or becoming their own person at an early age. (By the way, major props. not a lot of people could handle that while keeping up great grades and extra curriculars). Focus on that hook in your essays, and I’m sure you’ll get in everywhere.

But apply Brown ED! My brother goes there right now, and he was a weaker candidate than you, but he got in RD just 2 years ago. You can definitely get into Brown if you apply ED.

Oh, and chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1511265-chance-me-penn-cas-ed-ucla-cornell-georgetown-usc-will-chance-back.html#post16009011</a></p>

You guys are awesome :)) thanks everybody for the kind words…they mean a lot.

Wow… if you don’t get into one of the HYPs I will be truly surprised a baffled…

To accomplishment so much as a teenager! Well done, you won’t have to worry about getting into a good college.

thanks!!! @potassium i really hope ur right. my dream is brown (thats all i rly care about but if i get accepted hyp then ill have some thinking to do.

You are a very impressive applicant with a good hook. If you write a pervasive essay to capture the attention of admission officers you stand a good chance. Don’t give them the laundry list of ECs you gave above figure out which is the most interesting/unique and go with it. Make them captivated by you. I think you truly stand a good chance at all schools the below chances are a reflections of the level of the applicant pool and the general difficulty of admission.

Boston Coll- Safety/Match (should be no problem for you)
Brown Univ- High Match (they really focus on essays in their admissions process so make them good!)
Carnegie Mellon Univ- Match
Columbia Univ- Reach
Cooper Union- Match
Cornell Univ- Reach
Dartmouth Coll- Reach
Harvard College- Reach (REALLY play up ‘what’ makes you, you)
Yale- Reach
Princeton- Reach
Johns Hopkins Univ- High Match (focus on medical-related research)
MIT- Low Reach

@collegequeeni are you saying it will be easier for me to get into MIT than cornell?! lol

I believe it would be, not due to the variant competitiveness of the schools but as a result of your ECs. MIT looks for people who either prove themselves through technology or innovation. Your ECs really exhibit this entrepreneurship and drive. Cornell tends to accept students who are unique in some facet of their lives (a similar theme in all Ivies). I think you stand a great chance at both but in the context of you, I think MIT will be a tad easier.
