[/ul]Asian Male from Northeast looking to apply to:
Penn
Harvard
Princeton
MIT
UMich
Columbia
Brown
Other safeties too

Those schools are all crap shoots. I would need to know your 1600 scale sat score. Also you’re an Asian male which unfortunately lowers your chances (stupid I know).

You are extremely qualified and I’m positive you will get into at least one ivy

@yungkhalifa420 Yeah I know they’re crap shoots, but just wanted to know if I am really competitive for those schools or just an average applicant.

Also, do you think my app has enough depth/breadth or is there anything I should really emphasize?

Your much above average actually. Your application had a ton of depth and seemed like you were pursuing your interests and not just application fillers. Ivys actually have a high Asian student ratio so you should be okay. And impressive with chess. I play a ton and took 3rd in va

@yungkhalifa420 that’s pretty awesome haha! And nah I’m not top 5 individual, its my school team that was top 5 once. I play board 4 aha I’m definitely not as good as you, although I have a knack for recruiting kids to join =P

Haha we should play online lol

Bumper cars

Anyone else? Is there enough depth in my app, and/or is there anything I should focus on in my app?

The prestige of the journal is important. Were they proverbial journals?

You’re as qualified as anybody. I know calling these schools ‘crapshoots’ and reaches-for-everybody is a popular thing on here, but you’ll get into a good number of them. The cancer research deal could make a solid essay.

@PurePhysics well it wasn’t Nature or JAMA or anything, but it is the most prominent journal in my subset of cancer research (its an international one). Would adcoms really go that in depth into the journal prestige?

No, the fact that it’s not Nature or w/e won’t hurt you.

@upsilon Most won’t, but the prestigious schools may inquire about it. You should be fine.

You won’t get into all of them, but you will get into enough of them that you won’t be sad about it. Congratz dude.

@ybrown234 @PurePhysics - Hopefully adcoms are impressed either way, and I’ll definitely try to incorporate my research into my essays for that effect. Thanks for your help!

@LILBDABASEGOD - I would definitely be happy with that haha, but thanks!

Bumpty bumpty

Bumpty bumpity sat on a wall,
Bumpty bumpity had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Bumpty together again.

Jesus Christ dude, your stats put mine to absolute shame

If you only have a decent chance of getting in, then I might as well go to community college. Of course you’ll get in to most of them, how many applicants have done graduate-level publushed research?

@cabr321 Thanks haha! To be quite honest, I thought that doing research was pretty common, but do you think it might really set me apart from other applicants?

Also, do you think there are there any weaknesses that I could maybe try to improve on until October?
