Hi,

Your stats are all fine. Your AP scores are particularly impressive. What strikes me as a weakness is your ECs. Many of your schools are expecting more then just participating in school. I’d be curious to hear about your volunteering in Key club, that may help. Being an asian male certainly doesn’t help. Right now, you read as a little generic. Perhaps your essays could show more personality that doesn’t come through in the rest of your application.

HYPS: All reaches. Your application just doesn’t have a certain “wow” factor
Columbia Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Duke: Low Reach
UPenn:Reach
UF: Match

As a side note, are you sure that Stanford SCEA and UF’s early program aren’t conflicting? SCEA specifically states you cannot apply early anywhere else. Just a thought, I’m not familiar with UF’s program. Lastly, make sure to have some safeties on there. Anywhere with an admit rate below 15% is a reach, regardless of anything else. With your stats, I’d advise some state schools or privates that factor GPA and SAT scores as the near-sole factor in admissions. That would boost your status. Good luck. Please chance back at:

even with SCEA you can apply to your STATE’s schools early usually, so you’re fine. and
HYPS: mid/high reaches
Columbia mid Reach
Cornell: low/mid Reach
Duke: Reach
UPenn:low/mid Reach
UF: Match

chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1524516-chance-me-please-all-ivies-stanford-duke-uchicago.html</a></p>

You have great credential. You should have a decent chance at these schools. Just expect the low acceptance rate from these top schools though.

bump… thanks everyone for their responses so far

bumppppppp

HYPS: High Reach
Columbia mid Reach
Cornell: low Reach
Duke: High Match
UPenn:low Reach
Uf: Match

Good stats and ECs, but nothing that makes me say “wow!” You’re obviously a very intelligent and motivated person, but so are the people you’re competition with. You have a decent shot at at least one of the Ivies, especially if you won’t need fin aid and apply ED.

“HYPS: All reaches. Your application just doesn’t have a certain “wow” factor
Columbia Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Duke: Low Reach
UPenn:Reach
UF: Match”

Agreed with what this person says, your app is lacking a certain hook, IE a stellar EC that reflects your major, URM, etc etc. All that aside, you probably know this, but your objective stats (GPA and SATs) are fantastic!

Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525569-realistic-list-schools.html</a></p>

HYPS,- reach, as it is for everyone. but you have a better shot than most
Columbia- reach
Cornell-low reach
Duke,-low reach
UPenn -reach
UF- match

i have to agree with the previous posters. you’re a great applicant but I’m not sure why an admissions officer would choose you over someone with equally great stats. you like music obviously and service projects. maybe try combining the two and produce a great story for your essays
good luck!

HYPS: High reach
Columbia, Duke, UPenn: reach
Cornell: low reach
UF: IS, safety, OOS, match

I would find some safeties. As others said, though your scores are fabulous, but you do come off as a tad generic and your demographic factors won’t help you.

Chance me back please?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1524667-chance-me-georgetown-sfs-stanford-other-schools-please.html</a></p>

You have good grades and decent test scores but unfortunately they aren’t really impressive for an Asian (I’m an Asian too lol). You really need to stand out with your music supplement and essays in order to have a good chance at the Ivies and Stanford/Duke.

I really can’t comment on your chances for all the schools because I don’t know anything about your essays or music supplements but assuming that they are outstanding, HYPS are still reaches. Duke and the rest of the Ivies are probably low reaches and UF is a match.

Thanks!:

Cornell: Solid chances
UF: Safety (I guess)

All other are reach schools for you.
