Chance for Ivies

<p>so, I'm currently a junior and I'm wondering if my stats are competitive for the top colleges.</p>

<p>scores:
SAT I: 2380 (780 CR, 800 M, 800 WR- 80/10); SAT II: Bio 800 Math II 800
GPA: 3.82 (just moved to VERY competitive new school, only one B for first semester), old school gpa 4.0
APs: Biology-5, Statistics-5, Chinese-5</p>

<p>Course load:
Linear Algebra/Vector Geometry at local college, Calculus BC, College level biology, chemistry, and english, Biology research elective </p>

<p>Honors:
-awarded academic scholarship for achievements
-various music awards
-likely NMSF (PSAT 228)
- <em>crossing fingers for USABO semifinalist</em></p>

<p>Hooks:
- play unusual instrument, performed various places for mayor and hospitals/festivals
- pending research publication</p>

<p>ECs:
-outreach coordinator for city orchestra
-Bio, Chem, and Math tutor for peers and elementary students
-Habitat for Humanity President
-Student council member
-Science Bowl/science olympiad (various regional wins)</p>

<p>summer: hopefully I get into the research program of my dreams. We'll see.</p>

<p>You’re a great candidate, but unfortunately there are crowds of Asians with similar stats/qualifications as yours. You’ll have to stand above the rest of them in order to have a chance. Showing an unusual research ability and getting a prof. recommendation confirming that can be two of the ways.</p>

<p>Cornell is the last Ivy that can be a match with high stats alone.</p>
