Chance for JHU BME

Ok so I understand that the JHU decisions will be here next week, but I’m still super nervous about it. So far, I’ve been rejected to Caltech EA, deferred MIT EA, and accepted to Cal Poly SLO and UCSD. My major is BME so JHU is probably my top school.

My GPA is 4.44, unweighted probably 3.88 maybe 3.9.
I am rank 5, so in terms of percentile that’s almost top 1%.

I have a 34 ACT and a 1530 SAT (both single sitting) and a 770 BioE , 770 Chem, and 800 Math2 subject test scores.

I have a 5 AP score in Calculus A/B, Physics 1, English Language, and Psychology, a 4 AP score in Biology (self-studied), and a 3 in World History.

I have fairly average ECs because there just aren’t that many where I am. Highlights include 4 years of a sport, a molecular biology/chemistry internship at a local University, and Academic Decathlon where I am ranked top 30 in the country and won many regional and state awards.

I’m not a URM (male asian) and I am not low income (about 200k). Someone please give me some advice

Also I am president of a STEM club where we engineer technology related things. I have many volunteer hours at a local hospital and my essay focused on my diverse taste in knowledge and how I’ll take advantage of jhu’s opportunities

(Current Student)I was in your same situation- Male Asian, high income(above 250K). You are very comparable to me. My ACT was a 35, but your SAT subject tests are slightly better and your GPA is about the same. As far as ECs go, you’re looking pretty good, especially if there really are no opportunities locally. Good luck! What is the date they told you? Last year was 3/18 at 3pm EST.

@vrhou98 This Friday (the 17th) at 3pm eastern. I’m afraid because Jhu bme is the most difficult to get into and compared to a lot of students my ec’s are lacking.

Well, at this point there isn’t you can change. Was your internship research based? BME decisions heavily consider research done.

@vrhou98 yessir research

(Current BME)

I was admitted to BME with very similar objective stats. Admission is getting more and more competitive as the years go on, but I’d say you’re a very competitive BME applicant. Good luck!
