Chance for JMU?

My D has 3.44 weighted GPA
SAT superscore 1210
2 AP & 2 Honors classes this year
Worried because she did not submit a personal statement. Wanted to apply EA and had already written essay for Common App and didn’t realize that JMU wanted a personal statement. It seemed different than an essay so we did not use the essay and no time to write a personal statement. Will this hurt her chances? JMU is #1 choice!

I used my common app essay as my personal statement and got in!

She got in! Whew!

congratulations to all. My son has absolutely loved JMU

JMU’s admissions seem random at times. I had 2 AP, 1230 SAT, 3.9 GPA, and extracurriculars and got deferred.

agree@virginia1129… my son has higher stats than OP. 2 AP and almost all honors 1270 SAT(not superscored) 4.0 W gpa and was deferred. Annoying to have to wait til march/april when he did all applications early so he wouldn’t have to decide in April. Thankfully other schools have accepted him and some with Merit. JMU is falling down on his list now unfortunately. Its disappointing, but perhaps just not meant to be.

@judyvegas I’m definitely disappointed, seeing that JMU is basically my top choice. What annoys me is that other schools I applied to (with similar rankings) don’t defer. Oh well, I’ll have to wait for JMU and Tech to give out their regular decisions.

I am happy for OP, but I know several kids with higher GPA’s, higher test scores, and many more AP/honors classes that got deferred. They also had a lot of community service/leadership and athletics. It’s really head scratching.
