Chance for Johns Hopkins ED? Will chance back...

You should do fine! You have a really good ACT score, and I’m sure you’re near the top, if not the top, of your class. Like others have said, Math I is not really necessary when you have a Math II score (and a good one, at that!). The acceptance rate for JH was around 17%, I believe, so I’m sure you’ll get in! Maybe try for some first tier schools; you never know!

Update: I went to visit Johns Hopkins, and thought the campus was IMPECCABLE. I mean, it was spectacular to my eyes. Combine that with my desire to double major in humanities and science, it is now one of my top three (Penn ED and Chicago EA are the other two). So now that Johns Hopkins, Chicago, and Penn are equal in my mind in terms of my desire to attend (all VERY, VERY high), which one should I apply early to give me the best chance of having a place to go to college in December?

^^JHU is the easiest to get into out of those based on pure numbers, but it would help to know your stats, ECs, and hooks.

high match for JHU defiantly I think. UPenn not so sure about but a friend of mine got in with worse grades then yours, but he did start a camp for autistic children. Chance me back please!

High match for JHU I think. I’m not so sure about UPenn though. A friend of mine did get in there and he defiantly had lower grades than you but he did start a camp for autistic children.

John Hopkins ED: High match

I think you’re in. Everything looks very solid. As you may know ivies can be weird on selection, it can seem as the just tape applications to a dart board and who they hit gets admitted. Overall I think you’re a shoe in. I responded to your post on my thread please respond back, thank you!

Sorry wrong person on my last sentence, but please chance back!

I don’t really know much about the schools that you’re applying too, but you seem like a strong applicant for almost any school. Unless you are applying to JHU BME, you should have a decent shot.

Chicago and Cornell are definitely NOT 2nd tier schools by the way!

I think you could get in for sure! I know a kid who had lower ACT scores and got into their BME program with a scholarship and that was Regular decision. As for Penn, I think you have a good shotas well. For those schools I think it just depends if this year they get a lot a applicant like you or if you stand out.

BTW I’m applying to JHU too ! although you have a better chance I think! Good Luck!

Johns Hopkins: I think this a high match RD, and a bit better if you go early here. You would be one of the most competitive applicants here, but admissions is pretty random, so I can’t give better than high match.

UPenn: You said this was your dream in the OP, if it still is, apply early here. ED applicants have a big advantage here. Your app is competitive for Penn as well, although if you apply RD, your chances probably fall to mid reach.

UChicago: This is probably a low reach RD, and a high match/low reach EA. Writing well matters a lot here, so your essay skills will come into play.

I think its a pretty good bet that you’ll have options to go to at least one of these three no matter when you apply.

I’m probably saying nothing new, but:
Nice job so far in your three years! JHU seems a good match to be in for four more…
Johns Hopkins ED: Match or Low reach
NW: Reach (hard to get into these days)
UChicago: Reach
Wash U: Match
G-Town: Match/Low Reach
Cornell: Low reach/Match
Tufts: Match
Emory: Match
I’d love to hear your thoughts (looking for more accomplished folks) on my chance thread, if you have the time!

High match

Make sure you have a good application and you are golden.

Chance me?

You seem to have a great chance at getting in! However, I do ask you one question. You mention in your EC’s that you are the national circuit LD debate champion, probably meaning at the TOC level. I am aware that the most recent champion in LD was Michael Harris, a senior from Loyola H.S and the previous two years, the champions were seniors. Assuming that you are the national champion you are claiming, I’m going to assume you were a senior in the class of 2013. I’m just wondering because its rather disconcerting that you are the LD TOC National Champion that should be graduated already. I do policy and PF debate so I have familiarized myself with TOC circuit debaters…Danny DeBois, Michael Harris, Rebecca Kuang, Yang Yi, Henry Zhang, and Daniel Tartakovsky…etc

philosophymaj- OK, I should clarify that a little bit: I’m sorry if that misled you- i am NOT the national TOC champion… God, if I were that good I’d be using Harvard as my safety. I won 1st place at a tournament on the National Circuit, which I assumed was at least slightly different from saying that I won the whole Tournament of Champions. But, alas, I did not win the TOC. I’m trying to get in this year, though.

high match
