Essays will be very strong
Letter of Recs from music business program director and from Professor who I’ve taken a class from and is the advisor for the literary magazine and honors society

No budget
Also looking at USC, UCLA, CSU Northridge, and Berklee as alternatives

Some of these programs are expensive. Do you plan on applying for financial aid, merit aid, or paying out of pocket? Your application looks strong in terms of EC’s, internships and work experience.

You could consider posting on the music majors forum for more ideas on where to apply. There are many schools offering music business.

Do you need the degree?

I will be paying out of pocket. The other schools I listed have the best programs that I could find that are in music industry hubs. The connections to companies that these schools have is the main reason why I want the degree.

What’s your opinion on the impact my bad highschool grades and the break from college would have on my application?

I would look at Columbia College Chicago, UC Denver, College of St. Rose- and others I can think of or others can contribute on the music major forum.
Music Business Degree Program, Major | Chicago, Illinois (colum.edu)

Bachelor’s Degree Programs | The College of Saint Rose (strose.edu) (music business)

Are you a transfer student? Have you done a full year at CC? I honestly don’t know what role your high school grades will play. It depends on how much you have done at CC, Congrats on your grades at CC.

With health issues, you should have had accommodations at high school that might have helped your grades. The GED will be honored everywhere. You can explain the situation or your GC can. You have done really well with the 3.9, I just don’t know how many courses.

I think it is worth applying to all the schools you are interested in, and maybe expand the list to a few others as I suggested. Especially Columbia College Chicago. You have some great experiences, the summer program at Berklee, a lot going for you.

You can do very well at a place like Berklee. No audition required for music industry:
Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Leadership and Innovation | Berklee College of Music

Thank you I really appreciate that. I will be a junior by the spring semester having done 4 consecutive semesters with around 60 credits completed. Im not sure how many classes exactly but probably around 20. Thank you for your suggestions on programs as well I’ll have to look into them; im also thinking of university of Miami and Drexel.

You will do a BA? You probably have too many credits for a BM. Here is the Miami Frost Music Industry curriculum as an example:

B.M. in Music Industry < University of Miami
