Chance for M&T + SEAS RD

Hi,

International student, male, no FA needed.

Stats:
– 34 ACT, 800 Math L2, 700 Physics. (Single Sitting)
– 3.95 GPA (Rank 1/320; Toughest course available)
– APs aren’t offered at my school

ECs:
– Published research x2 in CS (but impact factors of journals aren’t that high). Worked on math research x2 (results are fairly significant, will publish in high impact journal).
– Teach CS (programming, app development, web development) to underprivileged children through my NPO. Nationwide presence (>10 cities). Handle national operations on a daily basis as well as personally teach in my city. Built a network of 100+ volunteers across the country.
– Manage my own startup which I founded with a few friends. Employ 14 people. Raised money (not that significant though). I also specifically learnt iOS development so that we could save money on employing engineers.
– Debate club (President), CS club (President), Math club (Member)
– Head Boy at my school (highest position on the student council), house captain at my older school (3rd highest position on the council)
– Played varsity sports (soccer and basketball; captained both teams) till 10th grade (wanted to start rec team at new school, but it turned out to be a dud)
– Perform card magic (at small events)

Awards:
– ISEF 2016 Semi Finalist in my country (Two of my projects got selected*, top 15 in CS category and top 8 in math category out of an estimated total of 15K submissions this year)
– Qualified the equivalent of AIME in my country
– Top 40 rank at national computing olympiad
– Some state level examinations (which aren’t that significant)
– Some school awards (award for ranking first (overall) in junior year, award for highest grades in CS, etc.)

Additional Notes:
– All the research was done by me. I did have mentors for my math projects, but I was the one that reached out to them through emails and continued collaboration. They’re at some of the topmost research institutes in the world and I have a rec from one of them, if at all it matters.
– No support in starting the startup as well as the NPO. My friends and I did it by ourselves.
– Hopefully good essays. I’ve had trouble getting them reviewed (because of lack of people who can, nevertheless, I have done my best in the essays).
– I qualified for the ISEF Semi Finals in both the categories with different projects, but rules dictate that one can only present a single project at the national fair. So I’ve decided to proceed with my math paper as the results are more significant.
– I might qualify to represent my country at the ISEF in time for RD. But that’s not something one can be sure of.

Thank you for your time! Have a great day!

@anotherdude everything looks great, except for your physics SAT 2 score, which is marginally ok (anything below 700 would be a big detriment) but ideally it should be 750+. You do have a decent/good chance but keep in mind it is really difficult for internationals, especially RD. the acceptance rate for internationals was like 6.7% for the class of 2018 (was prob even lower for the class of 2019) vs 9.9% overall. Good luck!

@Penn95 Thanks for replying. I want to retake Physics, but my schedule in December and January does not permit me to retake. I’m hoping that my school grades in Physics will somewhat help compensate for this low score
