Thank You :D :-bd

Stats are really low for Cornell, but I can’t really give a good estimate since idk how being a recent immigrant factors in.

@tripass216 Are you black? Being black AND first gen is probably the best hook you could have. I think today is the deadline for the last SAT you can take (January), and Cornell takes that SAT score as long as you register them as a recipient of the score when you apply. I think if you get your SAT score by maybe 100-200 points for the Jan SAT (you have around 30 days which is enough time I think) then you could definitly be in good running.

As for Syracuse, your probably accepted

Cornell doesn’t offer merit scholarships but I believe it meets need. Your SATs are very low- I understand why given you are a recent immigrant but for schools that care about scores, your SATs may hurt you a lot.

Do you mean your cumulative GPA is 3.6?
Do you/can you have a letter from your summer engineering program? (and I want to know your interesting story- how you got interested!)
Where else are you applying? What is your financial need?

@milkweed No my cumulative GPA is 3.7 and I dont think I can get one at the moment. I am also applying to Upenn, Yale, Drexel , Stony brook, City College NY , Union college and Grinnell College. Thanks for the comment

@pursuingcollege Thanks for the help

Your hooks and essays should be great, and you have a good GPA with significant improvement, which is nice. However your test scores are not quite up there for the ivies. You still have a shot, I think, and should definitely apply, and make your essays sing. Syracuse seems like a really good shot for you. I would pick some other “sure thing” schools too, though. Best of luck! :)

@thegrant Yes im Black and a first gen. I was planning on doing that but most of the other colleges i applied to only accept the December sat. So my mom said it would be a waste to spend $75 just for one more test. Thanks For The Comment. :-bd

@khaleesi16 Thanks for the comment. I guess i did a good job on the essays.

You will need to have an OUTSTANDING essay and OUTSTANDING letters of reccomendation to get into Yale. Your GPA and test scores show Syracuse as a better fit than any of the Ivies.
