I am assuming you are in state and with that assumption, your chances are good. You have everything that they are looking for - class rank, high scores, hopefully good essays. You are definitely accepted to UT and a good shot for your major. I do think out of the 3, CS is the hardest to get into. That being said, you never know with UT. I have known kids with similar stats who did not get their engineering major (chemical and biomed). Make sure you apply to other schools as well. With those stats, there are schools that would pay you to go to them.
Your chances look good. The ones we knew of who were auto admits but did not get their major were ones with lower test scores. UT knows something is up when you are in the top 5-7% but show test scores in the 1300s range. Yours are super strong.
As a current McCombs student I can defiantly say you’ll get into MIS. However with those stats, you should really be aiming for the Business Honors Program, which you can combine with another business major of your choice or a non business major like CS with permission. Being in BHP gives you a HUGE advantage in recruiting.
The BHP name itself does not give you that “huge” advantage you are hearing about from others.
It is simply a selection bias. Those in BHP would’ve landed those top internships had they not been in the program. That being said, the kids who make BHP are usually the harder working kids. If you’re a hard-worker, can network well, and take the initiative, you can do it. @sp00ky@VisionX
Point of clarification…there are recruiting opportunities open only to BHP students and not the broader student population. It seems this is driven by the employers and not the school. I see this as a “huge” advantage. Non-BHP students can use their own personal networks and hard work to get around this barrier (and many do), but it is easier for the BHP students to get the interviews in these cases.
