Hello everyone, first time poster hope this is the right fourm. Well I've had a unique journey. I'm applying now to medical schools (everyone in the country lol) I have a 3.8 gpa in junior year biology major english minor various labs and I have been an STNA for 3 and a half years now. That's actually what made me want to be a doctor. Oh I'm sorry 33 on mcat. Not sure if I should retake that or not. Anyway my main problem. 4 years ago I went to a comunity college, that was the year I had my kid and alas ran into a gambling addiction (since cured) and all kinds of trouble. Got 5 ws one C and one F. Well I took a year off got my life together, became a stna and decided I loved healthcare. Went back to school at the ohio state university and the rest is history I've really shined since that old community college. My question is should I even mention the old community college or is it so irrelevant and long ago I shouldn't even ackowledge it happened. If I do mention it should I. Explain my gambling addiction or be mute on that part and just say stress of new baby got to me. I've worked 3 n half years with alzheimers and dementia patients and this is one of my main goals for going to medical school is I want to be a neurosurgeon and help these people. Also with horrible credit from back in my gambling days any suggestions on making up for what federal loans and scholarships don't cover? Was thinking about looking into peace corps and health corps for paying for school. Thanks for the answers! Fingers hurt now as I typed this on my phone lol.
