Chance for Merit Money? OOS

Hello, just wondering how much merit money I should be expecting/realistically hoping for.

GPA: 3.8ish UW, 4.18 W. Not sure what FSU GPA is, but I calculated it a couple months ago and I think it came out to be about a 4.2-4.3, somewhere in there.
SAT: 2110 (700M 690CR 720W) ACT: 29 (30 superscored) Not sending ACT
Rank: Top 5-10%
5 APs by graduation

ECs: Eagle Scout and Senior Patrol Leader for one year (leadership)
Student Govt Rep
2 jobs
Model UN and Mock Trial
Euch Minister school, church, and nursing home
NHS
Student Ambassador and Mentor to Freshman
minor role in School Paper
couple other minor clubs

AP US History Co-Student of the Year
MDA Camp Counselor

should have 300+ service by the time I turn my app in

So do you think I have a shot at a tuition reduction and one of those $9600 scholarships?
Little confused about the tuition reduction thing. Seems like people are getting different amounts taking off. $229 seems to be thrown out a lot, but others say they have gotten more taken off. Oh well, guess I'll wait and find out, hopefully I'll get one, but if someone wants to chime in, that would be nice.

thanks

"do you think I have a shot at a tuition reduction and one of those $9600 scholarships? "

I thought you couldn’t get both (just the most beneficial one), but you definitely have a good chance at both of them.

Ok thanks. Hope I’m eligible for both.

I’m going to major in econ/poli sci or business/poli sci, if that makes a difference.

DD received in state tuition with lower SAT & GPA. You can also get in state tuition if you First Year Abroad program which is amazing.

Ok thanks.

That is good to hear that they give reductions to match the in-state rate. I’d love to get one of those.

I’m interested in studying abroad, but I don’t want to do it freshman year.

Thanks

you will probably get an out-of-state tuition reduction scholarship. I got one and it is a scholarship for $229 a credit hour

Ok thanks, sorry to bump, but I kind of have two questions.

jjman, is that $229 a credit hour you now have to pay or is it $229 off whatever the going rate for OOS tuition? (isn’t it around $650?)

$229 a credit hour would still be a little bit higher than in-state, but overall, that would be awesome.

Second question, I know the FSU app went live yesterday, say I send it in sometime soon (like this week) and my transcripts get sent in soon, how soon do you think I’ll know if I got in? When will they announce merit money? Does it come in the acceptance letter?

Thanks

it is $229 off the out of state tuition rate.

You must get all info in for the early decision period if you want merit aid. That will be announced later, in Feb or March and NOT at the time of the decision. Who gets what is different every year. We can’t tell you what you will get, only what others got in previous years.

^ Actually, my friends and I got our scholarship notifications by early January (at the latest) with most of them being sent off in December.

edit: The first notification I can find on here is from December 17th (less than 2 weeks after admission decisions were sent out).
