Chance for merit scholarship?

Hello...I like Pitt and already applied, but have not yet sent my transcript or SAT scores. I don't think I will bother sending them unless I have a shot at merit aid- otherwise, there is no chance that I can afford Pitt. we can only pay about 4-5000 per year, and the NPC brought our net price to 23,000.

My SAT is 2210: CR-800 M-680 R-730
UW GPA is 4.0
Rigor: Some, but not all of the most difficult classes- (I am taking 4 APs and two college courses now, but in 9th and 10th grade I only had 1 or 2 honors classes.)

Your SAT & GPA put you as automatically eligible for UHC (SAT>1400, decently high GPA).

Are you OOS? Are you ethnically diverse? Is your intended major unusual? You could have a shot at money from Pitt. Apply now and see what kind of money you get. It’s better to apply and say no later than to not have applied and wondered if you would have gotten money or not.

No, I am in-state. I am not ethnically diverse. I haven’t decided on a major yet, but I’m looking at computer science (perhaps unusual for a female?), neuroscience, and philosophy.

Valid point…will definitely finish my application, then.

I hate to admit this, but the current dean of the UHC is also a Neuro professor. He has been known to give favors to students interested in neuro/those who take his class. Definitely mention it in your application and it may help you!

Wow, thanks- neuroscience was already my top interest out of the three, anyway. However, when I filled out my application during the summer, I think I checked “undecided,” so I don’t know how I could mention it now.

You can contact OAFA and ask them to change your major of interest to Neuro if they have not already made a decision.

I just got my scholarship and chancellors invite today!
FULL TUITION BABY!!!
And my stats are actually lower than yours, so I think you’ll definitely get it as well. I just hope you applied early.
SAT
CR-650 M-800 W-690
ACT- 32
GPA- 4.398

GOOD LUCK

DS also received the full tuition and Chancellor invite today. I guess the scholarship committee has started to meet. I hope everyone has good news soon!!!

when did your child apply?

My son received a full tuition academic scholarship notification a week ago. He was also invited to apply for the Chancellor’s scholarship. He was accepted for Engineering and for Honors. 2140 SAT, 35 ACT, 4.6GPA (Weighted), #11 in class (top 2 %)

I saw online that to be considered you need a 1450 SAT or 33 ACT. Is this really a hard limit? I only sent in ACT scores and I got a 32. I don’t expect a full ride but is there a chance for some merit aid?

I had a 32 and received full tuition. However, super scored it is a 33. So I’m not sure what they use as a cut off. But I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of getting some aid
