Bumpitybumpbump. Anyone of you 810 wanna chance me? I’m looking for honest, harsh opinions haha

MIT: high reach
Dartmouth: lowish reach
Duke: low reach
Johns Hopkins BME: high reach
Harvard: high reach
BU 7 year Med Program: reach
RPI 7 year Med Program: lowish reach
Wash U 8 year Med Program: high reach
Northwestern HPME (7 year med program): high reach
Case Western 8 year PPSP Medicine: low reach

Hey, the colleges that you have applied to will most likely be the same as mine when I apply to them in 3 years (i’m a high school freshman)! As most people have said, ACT MUST GO up. I am not an SAT person either, but you most likely will need high scores on the SAT I and the SAT II subject tests for the east coast colleges. Your extracurriculars seem decent. I recommend going to University of Pennsylvania’s Biomedical research academy over the summer (I plan on doing this next summer). I think you have a good chance at Dartmouth, Duke, and 1 or 2 of the med programs. Harvard, MIT, and the other med programs are extremely presitigous, and I think that very very few high schoolers would have a ‘guarantee’ into one of those schools. As for you, I think that you have a chance, but you must show significant interest in medicine.

It’s funny, because I feel like my application will look similar to yours!

^I’m actually a junior so technically I haven’t applied to any of those schools or programs but those are pretty much going to be the ones I do apply to next year assuming no drastic mood swings occur on my part ![]()
Go figure that these schools are of your interest haha.
Also, could you provide a little insight as to what exactly Penn’s Biomedical research academy is?
Thanks
Also, do you have anything you want me to chance back- you are a freshman after all so I’m assuming the answer is no but let me know ok?

Bumpbumpbump

I think you are basically guaranteed to get into that school, those stats are incredible. Congrats!

^Thank you very much for that adviceIneed. bump

Hey…
Penn’s Bio Medical Research Academy ( [Penn Summer Academies | Penn Summer](http://www.sas.upenn.edu/summer/programs/highschool/academies#01) )

It is basically 1 of 4 academies over the summer that you can do at UPenn. It is recognized by many colleges, and I think it shows a great interest in Biology and Medicine. You must apply to the program (with your stats, I think you will get in), and I think the deadline to apply for this summer is June 1.

The huge downside to this is the tuition! It costs a great deal of money. If your parents are rich, then great ! But if money is an issue, then I think there is financial aid.

Going to an ivy league school’s summer program looks good on a resume (from what I’ve heard). Of course, it is not needed, but can, in some cases, boost your chances.

There are other options as well, for example, Harvard and Columbia have programs where you take courses (perhaps you could take a bio-related course) over the summer at their campus. Again, this costs money, and is not an option for everyone.

I’m afraid you can’t chance me ! I don’t have enough stats yet ;)

Good luck, and if you have more questions, don’t be afraid to ask!

^Thanks for enlightening me about the program. Columbia’s sounds good too but Harvard’s is ridiculously pricey ($10000+)!!! Thanks anyway though; bump

If you continue what you’ve done so far you definitely have a shot at Harvard, and a good chance at Duke or Dartmouth. For those med programs, you will probably need 800s on Math II and chemistry . Becoming an EMT will really help. If you are intersted in medical research, you might consider the Garcia and Simons programs at Stony Brook, especially if you want to enter competitions.

Could you please describe this Garcia and Simons program. How long is it? What kind of credentials do I need?

These all look like reaches to me! But to be honest, I don’t know much about combined med school programs, but they are super difficult to get into. Good luck! I hope you have some backups you like.

Bumpbumpbumppppppp

I’m not the best person to ask about this kind of thing, but I think you would probably have at least a solid shot anywhere. Be sure you really study for those SAT IIs, and maybe consider taking Biology as well.

[TTU Clark Scholars Program](http://www.clarkscholars.ttu.edu/)

This program lets you do research with a college professor for seven weeks, but unfortunately the application deadline was yesterday. I’m not sure how medicine-focused it would be, but they pair you up with a professor based on your interests so I think they’d probably have something available. Perhaps if you give them a call they’ll be flexible about the deadline.

Hi, I am just wondering if owning your own advertising company make you unique for harvard considering everything else is decent and lots of internships

If you get your ACT to 35ish, you’ll have an exceptional chance at your top 5 schools. As of right now, you’re a high match at the rest of your schools.

Thanks royrebirth bump

Thanks for chancing me! Now, I don’t have any clue about the selectivity of the med programs… but dang, your GPA/Valedictorian is pretty bomb. Just get those test scores up, and in at Duke/Hopkins, and you stand a good chance of getting into at least one of Harvard/Dartmouth/MIT.

I’d say you have a pretty good chance at most of those, though the I have no idea about the medicine programs. Dartmouth, Duke, and Hopkins are probably going to go the best for you admissions wise, I’d say your chances are pretty good there, I know people with much lower stats who’ve been accepted and they weren’t athletes or URM. MIT and Harvard are tricky admissions-wise for everyone, there’s just no way to tell with them. But you seem like a pretty good candidate for admissions anywhere, and if you get recruited for tennis or hockey your chances go waaay up.

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1284396-chances-davidson-vandy-nd-wm-couple-others.html

Haha im pretty decent at hockey and tennis but certainly not enough for harvard (D1). my parent arent too keen on me playing hockey in college and tennis im still thinking about because i could have a slight chance at playing for MIT but im not sure if im good enough.

It’s definitely worth a shot if you’re up for it. I know a pretty average student who got an offer to sign with Yale for track, and she wasn’t breaking records or anything. She chose ut austin instead though, which was surprising. I linked a thread above if you want to chance me, I could use some good input.
