Chance for MIT and other schools

^I chanced you back! Bumpitybump!

everything except mit and harvard, those are a reach. You best options are probably to raise ACT and now is the time to do something that shows dedication to your major: ie research, summer program, ect

Thanks for chancing me. Ahhh someone should really start a results thread next year like you said, that’d be pretty cool to see. Otherwise, good luck with the rest of the school year and stuff. Let me know your safeties if you can/have any too, I’m starting to try and think of some besides the local state school. Especially if they offer me money, and any opinions/other people’s safeties would definitely help out.

Bump bbumppp

All of those programs are competitive, but I’d say you have as good of a shot as anyone for all of the programs. I’d say you are in at northwestern and casewestern, and a reach at all the rest, however, everyone is a reach at schools like MIT and Harvard. You are an outstanding student and if you get your ACT’s up you will be fine.

Please chance me:

Hey!
So I STRONGLY encourage taking the SAT’s! My PSAT’s were crap, but my SAT was a 2200. I truly think taking it would help you! And if your scores aren’t too hot, you can rely on your ACTs!
MIT-reach
Dartmouth-match.low reach.
Duke-low reach.
Johns Hopkins BME-JHU’s bme program is super competitive. but i’d say medium reach. but just for JHU, you’re a match.
Harvard- high reach
BU 7 year Med Program- again these programs are extra competitive! make sure you intern with a doctor! I can ASSURE you this while make you look so much better! medium reach.
RPI 7 year Med Program- medium reach.
Wash U 8 year Med Program- medium reach.
Northwestern HPME (7 year med program)-medium reach.
Case Western 8 year PPSP Medicine-medium reach.

These are all great schools! Make sure you apply to some safeties! With your stats, Emory would be a great safety school!

Make sure you’re doing your community service!

Cmon. anyone else wanna chime in?

Hockeydude664,

The BA/BS/MD programs you are applying to are all extremely competitive, even moreso than the undergraduate institutions at the top of your list. I would say all of them are high reaches, not because you are lacking anything in particular, but simply because they only accept a few number of applicants each year. That being said, you should definitely apply to them because a slim chance is better than no chance.

I would suggest improving your standardized test scores. Reasonable goals would be 34+ on the ACT or 2250+ on the SAT and 750+ on all your subject tests.

^Thank you very much VouloirPouvoir! I appreciate the honest advice. Anyone else?

You ACT is fine for John Hopkins, Northwestern, and most likely even Duke as you are now. With your scores, you’ve got the schools for sure. Now, if you raise your ACT score up to at least a 33 or 34, you’ll have a chance at MIT and Harvard. And by the way, you posted to my chance on top schools and asked what I’d like to major in. I’d also like to major in Medicine/Pre-Med, most likely Chemistry.

You are most definitely on track to get into all of those schools, but I’d re-take Math I just because a 700 is below MIT’s 25-75 spread for Math Subject tests. Other than that, I wish you the best of luck!
