Chance for MIT and other schools

I hate that I can’t add anything new, but between everyone that has posted, all the major points have been covered. Raise the ACT and keep doing everything else you’ve been doing. The med programs are going to be hardest to get into, but you’re good for everything else in opinion.

Thanks Sforzando! Anyone else?

Bumpbumpbumpbump

Considering that u are gonna score 34 or 35 on ACT and graduate as a valedictorian I would say -
MIT -mid to high reach
Harvard -high reach
Dartmouth-mid to high reach
^it would have been great if u hade done more stuff revolving around medicine (I mean intended major)

RPI-lowish reach
BU-no idea
JHU-lowish to mid reach
I dont have much idea about other universities.

Raising the ACT would be fantastic, like everyone else said.

I think your application is extremely solid.
All of the schools are going to be a reach; not because of you, but because they are just extremely competitive programs.
You definitely have a shot, though.
The only weakness in your application is your ACT/SAT, which you have lots of time to get up.

I kinda skimmed through the thread, so sorry if you already went over this.
Are you at a college level caliber for the sports you participate in? Ever though about trying to get recruited?

I have thought about it and decided I don’t wish to play DIII at MIT or some of those other schools (JHU, RPI, etc.). Haha that’s assuming I would have that option anyone, though I understand it would help my chances of getting in if I did get recruited. Oh well, c’est la vie.

I don’t see why you keep bumping this thread. No one is going to give you any new “predictions” and advice. You have a chance at MIT, Darthmouth, and Harvard, but they are considerable reaches for you and pretty much everyone. JHU you have a slightly better chance, but still no guarantee. You will most likely get into RPI and BU.

I don’t know much about any of the other schools besides MIT, Harvard & Dartmouth so I’ll just chance you for those three.

I agree with a few of the other people who have said that your ECs do lack some focus. I do think you have a good chance at Dartmouth precisely because you are well-rounded and interested in sports/drama as well as math/science. I think with Harvard and MIT, in particular MIT, expect a little more focus but if you tie your interests together in the rest of your application and show you are passionate and have anecdotes about your intended major, you will have a good chance although obviously, those schools can be kind of crazy with their decisions. ;)

Good luck! I am intend to apply to MIT, Harvard and Dartmouth too! :)

I don’t think there is a lot to add, everthing has been covered. Your ECs are really solid and if you bump up the ACT score you have a fair chance at a lot of the programs you are apply to (but they are really competitive so who knows) good luck to you!

Thanks guitarkid! bumping

I say harvard, Dartmouth, MIT and JH are reaches period. Case, North, and RPI are relative matches. Get great SAT scores, raise the ACT to a 35, make sure you have letters of recs and write a really good personal essay that will add to yourself. oh yeah, invent something so you don’t have to go to college lolol

^Haha thank you sarcasm rules. bumper cars

As someone with no experience in medical programs I think you are a very impressive applicant and your Ecs extend from what one would expect from a typical premed applicant. What will you write your essay about? Also it’ll be easier when you have your application fully ready and know which projections you reach. I definitely think you have a good chance at gaining admission into several of those programs and if you apply to safer schools or even just prestigious schools without the programs you should have a good list!

I definitely think that you’re a strong candidate for all of what you listed but at the same time, I still think most of them are reaches due to the amount of competition. Valedictorian is a big boost though and if you can get the scores that you said on your subject tests that would help as well (especially the math 2 for MIT and I know that a good score on chem is importan for the BU program, not sure with the others). All in all you have a chance at everything you’ve listed.

You have a profound GPA and I think that is in the top 1% for accepted people in top schools. You should try to get perfect score on Math part of SAT and if you get a 2,200+ SAT or a 33+ ACT then you’re all set and I can honestly say all those schools are a match for you. An ACT score at 34 would set you at these.
MIT-Reach due to not extremely competitive toward math and science
Dartmouth-Low Reach, great school but your GPA is absolutely ridiculous with the courses you’re in.
Duke-Low Reach and maybe even slight match due to your immense GPA and fantastic potential ACT.
Johns Hopkins BME-I would have to say match but you never know for sure
Harvard-I would say risky but slight match because though they like good gpa and sat, they really like leadership and you look like you lead many clubs and sports.
BU 7 year Med Program-Match, maybe a little safety
RPI 7 year Med Program-Same as BU
Wash U 8 year Med Program-Same with BU and RPI
Northwestern HPME (7 year med program)-Very prestigious school and on top of that very prestigious program, I think you are a good set for that so I would say high match and low reach
Case Western 8 year PPSP Medicine-Safety, along with BU, RPI, and Wash U.

Thank you very much for that detailed post AlbertCollege! My goal is in fact to get a 34 or better on the ACT and then I’m just going to hope that the colleges I apply to see that my GPA is what it is despite the rigorous course load I’m taking, as you so keenly observed. My ECs are pretty much going to stay the same so the only missing piece to the puzzle is the standardized testing.
OH AND GUYS:
For the med. programs, I have also begun volunteering at an ambulance corps as a “junior volunteer” and intend on pursuing EMT certification next spring when I turn 18. Does this help for those programs?

Bump 10char

I would suggest you take the SAT as well and focus on that, and in addition make sure you get your ACT up to the score you stated. But other than that, your qualifications are amazing! you have so many different things, I think most of the upper colleges you put are low reaches for you except for MIT and Harvard because you never know about that one haha… but I think you should be okay with duke, dartmouth, and JHU BME even though they are all incredible schools, and the others should be a piece of cake for you, as long as you get the proper scores as stated above

Bumpitychar

Bump on this lovely St. Patty’s day
