chance for MIT

reach at MIT. they regularly accept students with those kinds of scores and limited research experience, but those students typically aren’t white males from california. they’re hispanic girls from Kansas.

try to up the math SAT scores a little

MIT-reach for everyone, you have a decent shot
UPENN - low reach
JHU- match
BU - match
Amherst - high match
Williams - high match

and i also agree with choklitrain

chance?

buuuuuummmmppp

buuuummmmppp

nvm then my bad. Sorry.

I would just say improve the scores and write a compelling essay about yourself. Bio Olympiad award is good, but I still think your EC’s are a bit low for MIT EA people.

Yeah, I know that I dont have a ton of EC’s but I feel like their pretty unique(esp. mountaineering, I only know of 5 people under 18 who have climbed aconcagua, hopegully ill make it 6). Im really gonna focus on the essays

bbbuuuuummmppppp

BUUMMMPPPPPP. please

Bump. chance you back

UPENN-reach
Johns Hopkins(possibly BME)-reach
Boston U-match
UC berkeley-high match
UCSD-match
carnegie mellon-dont know
williams-dont know
amherst-dont know (sorry, i dont really know about those three schools)
MIT-reach

def. raise up ur SAT score for MIT and the other top schools. and yes, try to contact the coach at MIT about rowing. if ur really that committed, then i would give it a try. btw, y MIT for rowing? there are other good schools that have a better rowing team than MIT and theyre excellent schools. try looking up other schools that have a good rowing team and a good academic criteria.

I’m not looking for a school with a good crew team. I want to go to MIT and if rowing can help me get in then I want to use it.

Thanks for chances

Buuummmmppppp

For MIT, who is huge on the whole mathematics/engineering gig, your SAT scores (at least for math) have to be increased a bit for MIT standards.

Your volunteering/community service is good, as it’s +300 hours. Your rowing gig is good too, and make sure that the MIT guys see you row your best! Your lab research at UCSD doesn’t hurt as well, and mountaineering is pretty unique.
However, I think you lack some leadership positions on your resume, and although I see your “nominated for leadership convention” part, I’m not really quite sure what you mean. So, try and think hard about your activities, and try and findan activity that you were a leader in. Colleges love leadership, and they prefer a leader to a member.

So for MIT, I would dsy to work on the stats and EC’s a little, and you’ll have a chance. After all, you’ve shown interest in their school, which is a plus anywhere. :)

UPENN-- somewhat of a reach
Johns Hopkins(possibly BME)-- need more extracurriculars to show you want to go into BME
Boston U-- definitely have a chance
UC berkeley— in reach
UCSD-- definite in
carnegie mellon-- in reach
williams-- somewhat in reach
amherst-- somewhat in reach (this is the best LAC ever, apparently haha. I knew someone who turned down Yale for Amherst!)

In conclusion, if it’s not too late, go out and do stuff related to what you want to do in college! And last of all, write a fabulous essay. These are the things that really get someone in. :)

Good luck!

ps. Chance me too? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/749162-chance-rice-emory.html
