chance for my cousin?

She is amazing in every single aspect (Great ECs, great school average, not sure about rec but I assume they are great) except SAT (she did not take ACT), which is in the 1950-2050 range. Does she have a chance for Wharton? What about for UPenn in general?

SAT is very important to Penn. I don’t think she would have much of a chance at Wharton but with Penn you never know. I think he chances for Penn would be low but at least possible.

Your description of her stat is very vague. The most specific thing that we got is SAT range of 1950-2050, even that is not specific enough. 1950 is very low for Penn, but 2050 is getting into the low end of most accepted students.

Her superscore is 2020
Math 700, CR: 660, W: 660

You can’t tell if someone can get in with just an SAT score, you gotta be a bit more specific…

And what is her ethnicity? That is also linked with grades, scores and everything.

She is Asian. I know it put her in a disadvantageous situation but she is wonderful in other aspects. She takes the hardest courses possible and her average is about 93%. She has taken several amazing leadership roles (2 club presidents, 1 city-wide organization’s president and an executive role on a provincial/state-wide organization).

From what i hear, it is generally easier for an asian girl to get into Wharton. What’s her class rank though? That matters more than just an “average”. Also, who else is applying to wharton from her school? Tell her to go talk to her counselor and compare herself to students from previous years who got into wharton. I would definitely tell her to improve her SAT scores though, or to try the ACT.

By the looks of it, there a 0-10% chance your daughter is getting in. I base this decision from her 93% average, her lack of Extra-Curricular activities, and her low SAT score.

93% is not high enough (that’s top 2%)? What is considered a good average then?

Really? I think her ECs are her strong points. She has also done multiple contests and received good results.

its ivy league admission man… not everything is happysunnyshine in the world…

Top 2% is good but the SATs and ECs are just OK. Her ECs are good but Wharton requires more than just good. To have a reasonable shot at Wharton, I think your friend is going to need a 2250 + SAT (the higher the better) and some demonstrable passions and skills that go well beyond being the president of two clubs. Again, Penn is easier. If she can raise her SAT to the 2150 + level then she has a chance. Good luck to her.
