<p>Hey guys!</p>

<p>Let me know if I have a chance for NC State, ECU, UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, and Appalachian State. NC State is definitely my #1, so please let me know where I stand for that school. I am trying to major in psychology, but that may change later in college. </p>

<p>Race: Asian (Indian, to be specific) </p>

<p>Unweighted GPA: 3.125 (Terrible, I know =/)
Weighted GPA: 3.9583</p>

<p>(The main reason why there’s such a gap between my weighted and unweighted is because I took a couple of AP classes [and some honors] that I got C’s in. Do the colleges take into account the actual grades of each class?)</p>

<p>Class rank/size: 169/535</p>

<p>SAT score: 1770
CR: 500
Math: 630
Writing: 640
Essay: 10
(I’m retaking the SATs this October 9th after taking SAT private tutoring, so hopefully that score will increase) </p>

<p>AP exam: Government and Politics: 3
(Does NC State care a lot about AP exam scores?) </p>

<p>Honors/Achievements:
-Presidential Volunteer Service Award
-A and A/B Honor Roll
-National Honor Society 11/12
-Academic level of Achievement (10)</p>

<p>Leadership:

-Captain of the only high school Bhangra (Indian style) dance team in NC (11-12)
-Chairperson of my youth group of my HSNC temple (10-12)

-Treasurer of Human Rights and Social Justice Club (11-12)
-Features Editor for school newspaper (11-12)
-Freshmen mentor (11-12)</p>

<p>(Okay before I explain my ec, I’m just putting out there that I live in a very Indian-heavy community, therefore a lot of my service comes from that community and from my temple, which is called HSNC: Hindu Society of North Carolina.)
Extracurriculars:
Under HSNC:
-Summer camp counselor for 2008 (100 hours)
-Summer camp program director for 2009 (100 hours)
-Summer camp director for 2010 (150 hours)
-Tuesday prayer (volunteer food services every Tuesday for three years)
-Organized a walk-a-thon for breast cancer
-Directed all these cultural events at the temple: Diwali, Bhangra Night, Garba, Holi, Independence Day) (I suppose this could be leadership, but I volunteered there as well)</p>

<p>Under Cary Teen Council:
-Apex read-and-feed (volunteering event 12 times)
-Trail Maintenance
-NCAA Division II baseball championship (head volunteer)
-Adopt-a-Highway program</p>

<p>Misc:
-Tutored at Cedar fork elementary school for four hours each week (9-11)
-Volunteered at Horse and Buddy, a program where we taught disabled children to ride horses (9-10)
-Organized a Dr. Seuss birthday party at the local library for kids to come gain knowledge about Dr. Seuss as well as make arts and crafts. </p>

<p>Employment:
-Worked at Mrs. Fields cookie store in the mall for a year and a half (Starting midway through junior year) about 20 hours a week. Worked as a cashier and sometimes baked in the back. Earnings were minimum wage. </p>

<p>Recommendations: One from my newspaper teacher. Even though it’s an elective, I have taken this class consistently for two whole years. I am also getting one from my AP Enviro teacher.
Essay: Not completed that yet, but I will finish in the next week. </p>

<p>Sorry for the hefty message, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me an input!!! I really am doubtful about my acceptance to NC State and I really need to know if I have the chance. Give me suggestions as well! Thanks in advance!</p>

<p>Unless NC State calls Indian a URM than you need to help… Study like crazy for your SAT and if you can get your CR over 600 that will help alot, so spend your time studying that section… </p>

<p>ECU is your back-up…</p>

<p>Yess I am studying like crazy i’m trying to bring up that math score as well. But is my GPA suited for NC State?</p>

<p>Yes ECU is my first back-up, and it is a safe school for me.</p>
